Thx for your reply.

Been a ex - mechanic & working at nissan (sunderland) u tend to want to want to stay away from dealerships. As you become aware that they can take your eyes out. My car epc light now n again comes on & you can't accelerate much. Turn ignition of & back on & it's gone.

I've read so much about people having this problem & dealers fobbing them off. I mean they charge £40 for just putting on the machine. That's why I was looking for a alternative.

I'm in bilingham

i got one of the bluetooth code readers and then downloaded the app only used it once but seems good

sorry when engine is not running but ignition lights on

thanks folks for posting on this ELM reader. I just learned about them over the weekend and wondered how good they would be? I know the price being so cheap, is usually a tell-tail sign:(

All I really need is something to to tell me what a fault is when it arrives and possibly the ability to disable some warning lights, like the really annoying one i have currently for a faulty rear side light ......which is actually a loose connection that i can't seem to fix:(

so the ELM reader, worth a chance, or should I just go for the better software options from Ross-Tech (i think is the site)???

I am interested in buying VCDS but have no idea what I need or how to use it. I have a 2007 Octavia 2.0 diesel and a 2005 Audi A2 1.6 petrol. So, this kit could potentially be very useful to me.

I also live in Billingham.

Same issue here, there are different variations on cables etc so I don't know what I need. 2010 VRS CR FL.
