Pairing new flip key remote

Featured Replies

Hi, I've recently joined the Skoda owner's club back in September with a '65 plate Yeti Outdoor SE 4x4 150psi 2.0 TDI. I've been enjoying my new car but unfortunately it was only supplied with one key. I queried this with the Skoda dealer I bought it from up North and they supplied me with a second key and told me to take it to a local dealer down South (where I'm currently based) to get it programmed.

I was curious to see if I could avoid the hassle of taking it to the local dealer. So I tried the new key out and it will manually unlock the door and also start the car (does not trigger immobiliser, but does display "Key Not Found" on the dashboard display), but the remote locking does not work (which I expected to be the case). A friend told me he had previously had success pairing a new key to his Ford so I googled and tried a whole bunch of pairing procedures (mostly some variant of having the old key in the ignition and pressing fob buttons and (un)locking the door manually with the new key), but none of them have worked.

Does anyone know if it is possible pair my new key to my car? If so, how? Or am I going to have to pay the local dealer a visit? Cheers!

I believe both original keys have to be deleted from the memory before the 2 keys are registered with the ECU.

It may well be possible to do it without the dealer kit but if you get as far as deleting the key you have and something goes wrong you are stuck.

The supplying dealer should pay for a local dealer to do the work.

Did you not question about not getting both keys at the new car handover?

Thanks Urrell. Sounds like I should just go to my local dealer then.

I did question not getting the second key, but it had been delayed for some reason, so I had them forward it by post once it arrived. But don't worry, as you suggest, the dealership I bought from have agreed to pay the local dealership, I was simply trying to avoid the hassle of finding a convenient time to have it done!
