Fabia Rear Brakes

Featured Replies

I am looking at changing the rear brakes on my fab only thing is it is an 8 valve so has drum brakes anyone know of a company that will do a drum to disc conversion for it or will i have to change them for 16 valve discs and brake assembly if it is the latter anyone know where i can get these fron and how much they will cost?

I thought the Fabia had discs all round, and it was only the poverty spec Octavias that had drums on the rear...

It would be easy enough to use the brake assembly from the Fabia, think you'd be looking at

This "poverty spec" thing is spreading  I thought only a couple of people used that phrase :D Is Rob Real Skoda? ;)

Was only limited to one real person, and his collection of identities...

Ian was the first person to coin the phrase, and it's been in common use ever since.

And no, I'm not Real_Skoda - if I want to stir things up I'm more than happy for people to know it's me doing it... :p

Rob.

i think that all fabia except the 1.4 8v (ie mine) do have disc brakes all round but still you cant have everything.

the 1.2 doesnt have discs either i have a rather tasty 1.2 silverline loan car as my furbi is back in the garage, what an awful engine! :(

Just to put the record straight, I am me!

And him, and him, and him and her :D I think a couple of other people may have my user ID and password ;) Its a collective thing :D

I can't claim credit, I think I heard it someplace else.

(unlike the Briskoda name :D)

Looking at Etka (500-20) it looks like its the same axle whether you have discs or drums and the same stub bearing. Big K, why do they have a different rear axle part for models with and without PAS? Looking at Etka yet again (609-20 & 615-60) it would appear that it should be relatively simple (famous last words) to swap from drums to discs. Think a trip to a salvage yard could be in order for you.

Edit to say: If you want copies of the pictures from Etka with the part numbers, let me know and I'll email them to you so you can possibly see what is involved
