How do I tell from the VIN number whether I have a MY16 or 15

Does the VIN coding tell me.

What are the visible differences between the two.

My new Octy SE L  has just been delivered and my curiosity has been raised by the fact the Amundsen has 2 SD card slots

Also there is a rubber mobile phone holder near the handbrake

If it's a new build car, rather than from stock, then it will definitely be MY16.

On MY16 only Columbus has a CD player.

The Amundsen went from 5.5" low resolution screen to 6.5" high(ish) resolution.

I think the SE L changed from a 4 spoke steering wheel to 3 spoke.

The 1.6 TDI changed from 105 PS to 110.

Is the Amundsen screen size measured diagonally like TV's or width. Its 6.5 ins diagonally or 5.8 ins width

It does not have tyre pressure monitoring

If it's SE-L it must be MY16.

If it's 15 it would be Elegance

all cars by law must have tyre pressure monitoring now!

My mistake, it does have TPMS. works differently to my daughters new Corsa which has miniature transmitters in each tyre valve

Yep indirect TPMS working off the ABS sensor data.

Simple way to tell is if you haven't upgraded to Columbus head unit, you won't have a CD player in the glovebox box if you have MY16... The CD tray is blanked out.

As far as I know there's always been 2 SD card slots. One for Nav SD card and one spare for music etc

I don't have a CD player but only one SD card slot for music so will my Octavia 16 plate reg May 25th be a MY15 or MY 16

10th Character of the chassis number is the model year eg A = 2010 B = 2011 and so on.....if that helps. Model years usually run from May to April just to confuse things even more....

Many thanks for that informative posting regarding the chassis number assist toward establishing the model year.

I hope to acquire a 2017 (March registered) Octavia Scout 184 DSG in the very near future. Should I expect the 10th character of the chassis number to show 'H'?

And are there any other matters of note, as I migrate from a 2010 MK2 Scout Tsi?
