Octavia VRS 2015 - concern- please help

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

When cold the car wont Rev past 2.500 revs with the clutch depressed and the right foot buried in the carpet

The car lives in VRS mode, and the car has been Revo chipped.......I have just taken the car out and it hesitated, then went then hesitated......then it went again.....took it down the motor way, depressed the clutch and got full revs, but now the consumption is obismal....26.5 mpg when originally prior to chipping I was getting 43.5 even in VRS mode

Could leaving it VRS mode have knackerd things up? Or could it be the Chip from REVO?

I seem to remember that all VAG diesels have some sort of limiter that stops a stationary vehicle revving beyond 2,500 RPM.

Others will no doubt confirm.

As for the other issues - sorry cant help.

Yes, my 1.6 diesel won't  rev above approx  2,500 rpm when stationary

A best part of 20mpg drop in fuel economy isn't good - how long since you had it mapped?

Thanks Guys

For coming back to me so quickly, its been about 7 weeks now since its been chipped, my other thought was perhaps the hesitation and power then hesitation....could be the software learning the new temperature as this is the first really cold day for quite sometime

Thank you so much for telling me about the rev limiter thats put my mind at rest

Try it again, just get in and drive from cold, trying to achieve a good average mpg after revving it whilst sat still reduces that average considerably

Normally turning traction control off will remove the rev limiter when stationary.

Leaving it in VRS mode should not cause any issues.

When you say the fuel economy is abismal, was that measured as an "instantaneous" fuel consumption or the fuel consumption over a full tank?

When the car starts a regeneration is is sometimes possible to feel a slight hesitation as it switches from the normal to regen combustion maps.

During this time, instanteous fuel economy will also show a noticeable difference to normal consumption.

This should last 10mins or so before returning to normal.
