Best Headlight Bulbs ?

Featured Replies

Having not really used my car in the winter where there is no street lights i was under the impression that the headlight were just ' normal ' and ok...... not the case, tonight i came home a different way which was over an area of farmland  with a small 'snake' type lane and zero street lights, terrifying  is all i can say !!! The light was not bright at all, kind of dull and not white light but mutted..... just what can i get to stop me from crashing next time i take this route ?

A man holding a candle walking in front of you would be better than OEM.

Try Osram Night Breaker bulbs, they seem to be well reviewed.

If you have projector lenses then consider an HID upgrade.

Do a forum search and you will see answers galore, the main theme being it's personal opinion. If you go for upgraded bulbs you will get the HID lovers saying otherwise and vice versa.

Hids are better. I did run ring rally 100w bulbs in for a bit which was a bit better then moved over to the hid side and the light is 10000000000000000% better.

Mine is a 2010 1.6cr elegance and has the bulbs that came with it, is fitting HID a big deal and would it cost a lot ?

Look at Eurocarparts Black Friday Deals on bulbs

I just paid £15 for a pair of Philips White bulbs

Just in case you don't know

An aftermarket HID kit will potentially cause an MOT Fail and you must inform your insurer, who may refuse cover

They are not self levelling or have a washer system either, which has to work if fitted

Oh dear God, not this again.

Sorry ...Some people don't know :notme:

I think most do, especially the amount of times it been covered, but you're right I guess if you didn't say it and just thought it you'd kick yourself. My insurance company didn't care when I told them, they just said in the event of an accident they wouldn't cover them or replace them like for like, just put OEM back in

A visit to Specsavers?

I use the standard OEM`s on an unlit stretch twisty road every night. The dull yellow light illuminates the road just fine. The problem I have is oncoming cars with white / blue white headlights that dazzle. If you drive in east yorks please leave your headlights OEM. Maybe an eye test might help if you are struggling to see.

Just had the same problem on country lane, have fitted Osama night breaker bulbs now , improvement instant.

Predictive text function again,of course I meant OSRAM NIGHTBREAKER !

Brilliant haha

Could someone post a photo of the projector lights as I really don't know what is fitted to my 12 plate .

Can't upload a photo, sorry a link to projector lens above

If you can see the bulb with a large silver reflector round it you have a reflector lens, if you cannot see the bulb because it is behind a dome you have a projector

As Jonro says, or...

What spec is your 12 plate?

Should be able to tell you off that.

If its anything other than an S its usually projector in dip. High may vary

Thanks all, it's a projector I've got as per the photo put up by jonro2009.
