Tail lights - boot section

Featured Replies

I've noticed tonight that the top sections of each inboard light cluster aren't lit when I have my lights on (the inner top portion of the 'c' that's mounted on the boot). Are they supposed to be lit on models without the LED High option? They're lit on photos I've seen.

  • Sounds to me like the hatch gets the inner LED strip, the combi however does not?   EDIT: Hmm, maybe not the case then, looks like this estate has them...

Sorry Pete didn't spot about the LED package. I have it but I would think that it's standard on all cars and yours aren't working ....

Thanks Nick. I'm assuming they're standard too, will see if a non LED High owner responds just to be sure. It looks very odd without them lit, in fact I'm pretty sure they must have been working initially otherwise I'd have noticed before.

Here's a quick pic of my limited edition tail lights. Anyone got an idea what might be wrong? The fog light works so there's power to the offside unit at least. Not sure I want a dealer taking the boot panel off  :notme:

That's what mine look like too. I agree it's a shame the bit on the boot lid don't continue the 'C' shape. Maybe trying to differentiate the skoda from an Audi.

That's the issue Skoben, the sections mounted on the boot lid should be lit at the top. Looks like we've both got the same fault? What model is your Superb? Have a look at Nick_H's pic here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/375370-lighting-and-a-few-rubbish-pics/

Ohhh yea. Maybe it's the trim level? Mines only a standard spec SE Business.

Yeah mine's an SE Business too. Need someone with a different spec, and non 'LED High' to check theirs

I thought the tail lights were in fact LED on the SE Business and yes.. they should continue into the tail gate.  (i would be checking they have been connected!)

No disputing they're LED Rick, just wondering if it's some bizarre spec difference. As I've said, the fog light is working which would suggest they're connected....

Correct.

It's a feature to differentiate the L&K, like the Anthracite wheels.

Those are the mysterious "LED rear tail lights high" on the L&K spec that nobody, including myself and my dealer, were able to initially fathom what it meant.

The ŠKODA Superb Laurin & Klement

Standard Equipment (over SE L Executive)

DESIGN

18" Pegasus anthracite alloy wheels with anti-theft wheel bolts (18" x 8J with 235/45 R18 tyres)
LED exterior light package (LED rear tail lights high, registration plate illumination and boarding spots)

Nor are they part of the "LED package plus" option.
LED package plus Includes LED front reading lights, door handle illumination, footwell illumination in front and rear and illuminated vanity mirrors. Also includes decorative ambient lighting strips on the dashboard and front and rear doors which can be set in three colours: warm amber, green or blue

Can't be L&K specific - as Nick_H has them lit and he has an SE-L ?

Unless it's SE-L and above only?

Yeah, I just noticed that, Coops. My bad! They're the only rear lighting feature that I can see that differs. So I guess either Nick was lucky or the brochure is wrong.

Interesting ... Anyone post pics of an SE L rear lights without led plus pack.

The differences here so far are:

Pete T - SE Business HATCH

Nick_H - SE-L COMBI (with LED pack?)

Agreed - need to determine whether it's a hatch or combi issue too?

Would welcome Markab & petersky1976 input, as they both have a SE Business Combi.

I will drop them a PM.

Rick

If you see crystal like elements looking from the sides of rear light clusters then, you have LED High Version.  If you see only red panels on that part, the part on the lid is not illuminiated.

My SE L Exec without LED pack is in the car park. I'll take a look tonight when I go out.

My SE-L without led has the bits on the hatch lit if that helps

Could be SE L upwards then ... ? So..... Would a SE Business have them with the LED Pack ?

Surely this is just a coding change though? Didn't different Octavias do different things with lamps and drl's depending on the country setting for illumination?

Not if the lights are physically missing.

SE-L Exec - goes onto the boot.
