Alarm help needed asap

Featured Replies

My alarm kept going off for no apprent reason last night and its bloody annoying

i need to know how i can lock the car without the alarm being on.

in the owners handbook it says you can re-activate the sensors inside by duble locking it within 2seconds, but it says when its done the red led by the door pin wont flash, but mine still does even though i can hear the deadlocks have been deactivated.

is there anyway i can find out what sensors is setting the alarm off??

cheers all

Turn off the air con a few minutes before stopping and shut the vents - the change in air pressure in the car can set the alarm off.

MNy goes off a fair bit in the summer but not had any issues in the winter.

To disable the interior sensors, press the lock button on the key fob twice in succession - the flashing red LED is for the immobiliser I believe. I don't think there's any way to tell which sensor is causing it, but I'd check all the doors, bonnet and boot are shut properly.

Be aware that you insurance might not be happy if the car is nicked when the deadlocks and alarm are disabled....

I've not had it happen to mine (yet?) but an older Fabia (non-vRS) does it regularly. It also goes off if I rev my engine a bit in the morning to get the turbo spinning (defrosting time  ) - real good fun at 5am :D

When this happened to me it was the bonnet switch which was faulty. The indicator lights won't flash when you lock the car and the wipers won't work on intermittent seting either if this is the case...

The Superb has an interior monitoring deactivation switch low down on the B pillar behind the seatbelt, dont know if its the same on other models though?

It's the same on the New Octavia but not in the current model of the furby

Got any bottles of water in your car? Could be change in temperature affecting the bottles. they tend to expand or contract due to temperature change

It sounds simple really but is easily overlooked - have you made sure all your windows are fully shut?

also one of my coleagues has a Jag X-type sport and the alarm was forever going off on that, if a boy racer went past in a Nova with a big exhaust it would set it off, we discovered that by simply closing the air vents it stopped the alarm going off, the sound waves must have been travelling through the air vents and affecting the air pressure inside the car!

I guess leaving the air recirc on would have the same effect?! (does this stay in position when car is switched off?)

Oh one other quick thought -

Make sure its not actuall thieves!!

There is an old trick whereby thieves would continually set off your alarm (without breaking in) till you get pi**ed off and leave the alarm off!!

lol, how thick do you lot think i am? lol

yes all door windows boot bonnet shut

no thieves, i sat n watched it go off 3 times on its own lol

I let the cabin goto same temp tonight then closed all vents (force of habbit anyway - looks better :D )

Then i double locked it to turn sensors off inside, and it hasnt gone off yet.

Managed to get it to a skoda after work and the codes said it was the interior sensors but they want it for a day to check it all.

Have noticed though my VRS badge off the back has gone missing, and left half the sticky pads! some buggers pinched it! gits

anyway, cheers for all sudjestions and help, i'll see how tonight goes then see if i can get it in garage.

cheers peops

this happends to mine, three times last night.

Will try the vents thing in a hope that it works.

One question, with the double locking switching off the internal censors. Is this all it does or does it switch off the alarm totally.

I believe it also disables the deadlocks, but I might be wrong on that.......

Check that the washer pipe has not come adrift from the rear wash/wipe. Try the rear washer and then check to see if water is coming out of the bottom of the hatch lid, if it is then the pipe may be split or completely off the squirter nozzle, the washer fluid then fills the hatch cavity and shorts out the alarm switch, causing the alarm to activate.

Mine was going off forever on my 1.4 16v. The dealer popped a new sensor in the overhead interior light. It was faulty.

Hi there. i think i might know what it is, well might!

Well i have been havin this problem over the last few days, and i noticed that the indicators were not flashing once to confirm alarm is on. Well a friend told me something to do with the bonnet not bein closed... blah blah. i looked but to no avail! WHen i looked on the hatch mechanism with the bonnet open obviously. i saw a micro switch attached to the mechanism. This is to set the alarm off if someone tampers with the bonnet. So i disconnected the Plug, and hey presto the alarm now arms itself and hasnt gone off since!!!

P.s i tested the continuity of the switch and it was ok, its the metal latch attached to the switch which was at fault i think.

Anyway hope this helps.

Damien

I has this problem in the summer. My dealer called Skoda UK, they said you can disable the internal volumetric sensor (grilles in the internal lamp unit) by locking the car as normal with the remote, then pressing the same button once more within a minute.

This disables the internal sensor.

It worked for me, until the dealer adjusted the sensor, never had a false alarm since.
