New Yeti arrives tomorrow! :)

Oh dear. If you wanted a car that was going to stay clean for more than ten minutes I fear you are going to be disappointed. I spent Sunday afternoon cleaning mine and I've barely done 20 miles since and it looks like It's not been touched for months!

I wasn't sure about the Jungle Green but the more I see of it the more it grows on me. Annoying about the niggles but hopefully not taking to much shine off the new arrival.

Yeah, as the roads are at the mo it would be the same after a few days use regardless! Just being picky really. I definitely like the Jungle Green best of the choices, quite classy really.

That rear view mirror is definitely wrong - the view is far wider than the rear window and narrower vertically, it's oddly magnified and I can't see cars when they're close behind. Parts bin job I guess, probably ran out of the correct ones! :|

  • Ahh thanks for the info, that's not too bad as I'm in Swindon so not too far from there! Fingers crossed! I must admit I was happy when I was given the reg number and it didn't contain "NOB", "DIK" or

Enjoy your new car.

I really wouldn't worry about the things you are worried about. Treat it to your favourite cleaning products, and just enjoy it.

Most of the 'running in' will have been done by the drivers loading it on and off the boat, onto the transporter etc.

That's great. :D Well it's a problem as it's hard to see out of, I can't rotate it the "right way up" if it is upside down because there isn't the room! I'm not sure how easy they are to replace without pulling the car apart:

Doesn't look right at all - and there should be the buttons to turn off auto dimming too.

Part number looks to come back to a VW Polo, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything given the vast VAG parts bin!

Well it seems the auto-dimming works on my trip home tonight so the sensor must be behind the glass, completely wrong field of view though. The garage are looking into it so I'm sure they'll come up with something! :D

I picked my car up from the garage and it had a scratch by the ignition just like yours!

Other than the other niggles (particularly the mirror!) glad the car is alright. I wouldn't have been happy with it being delivered that far by road. I even declined my car being picked up by a dealer to have the side mouldings fitted.

I know the dealer is going to drive the car i.e. at PDI, servicing etc. but I like to reduce the opportunities. I'm definitely getting more OCD as I get older! :D

Yeah, I don't mind the little things too much, it's the fact there's a few of them which starts to make you wonder if you got a "Friday Afternoon" car. I mean, how do you put the wrong rear view mirror in a car on a production line, you'd notice, the part shouldn't even be there! I mean do they run out and go "F**k it, I'll go grab one off the Polo in the car park!" or what?? :D

Don't worry about the scratch by the ignition, there will be loads there soon and the missing torch and wrong mirror, well that's a bit shabby to arrive like that.or it could be the right mirror wrong car and a happy polo driver.

That's VW already cutting costs to cover the emissions scandal.

If you look in the latest Owners Manual Nov 2015 the mirror you have is shown on Page 73. Fig 59 Mirror B with auto dimming.

Mirror - interesting. Just had to pop out and have a look at mine (latest model) and it's shaped like the manual mirror but with two sensors at the bottom outside of the mirror area.

So nothing like either of the two in the manual!

Edit: Looked in the brochure and it's as per that one on Page 21.

Looks as though they have used a different design in the L&K and given that yours has a brown surround to it would guess that it is the right mirror?

mirror is of new type after week 42 I think (may not be better) and is the right way up. and if it was'nt for garage monkeys you would be walking !!

Well I've still got the wife's old car to tide me over. :) I just don't appreciate the lack of care of someone's expensive new vehicle seemingly just to put stickers in the window, since that is where most of the white residue is spread around the interior, front and back. I design and build expensive product for a living and it only leaves the warehouse if it's been double-checked and is immaculate. I think it's fair to expect a £27k+ car to at least be clean, especially if the mess has been made purely by the supplying garage to get their little bit of free advertising.

The mirror is definitely new - I downloaded the manual a few weeks ago and it features the old one, as does a friend's new L&K that was received a few weeks ago. It's also a definite downgrade, one would presume as a cost-saving of some kind. The old one worked very well and matched the rear window view perfectly, the new one offers a field of view that's both far too wide (can nearly see out of the rear side windows from it) as well as too shallow, it cuts off about 20% of the vertical view from the window. It definitely wasn't designed for the Yeti. Pretty poor show really on Skoda/VW's part.

You have not yet moaned mentioned about the brown upholstery. That's one good point in the L&K's favour.

I like the leather, I like the car, that's why I bought it. I'll just shut up and accept what I'm given, I should be grateful Skoda have allowed me the privilege of owning their fine vehicle, whatever condition it's in or whatever parts are missing.

Oh crap, I put it on my driveway last night, it's a slightly raised bump from the main road!  :| Does that count? I should have checked the ground clearance, approach angle and put snow chains on, you never know here in Swindon! :D I should be ok though, I just moved it back off and didn't hear any scrapes, I was happier this morning, it looked good, started and felt nice to drive in the 20 feet or so I moved it.

My next job will be removing dealer stickers out of principle, destroying my heating elements in the process and then figuring out why my album artwork isn't showing on the SD card, I feel a forum search coming on!  :p

Ah ha!

Snow chains -

Have I mentioned that you can't fit................

A very good point about the heating elements and dealer stickers.... I used to do marketing for a Honda dealership and the service manager told me that Honda had told them not to put stickers over the rear screen heating elements as it would invalidate the warranty.

I always tell dealers not to put any of their stickers on my vehicles.

The stickers will still be fresh on, so peeling them off shouldn't do any damage.

I tend to use a small scraper, and start on corner not sitting on a heating element, Then start the peel

I never run any dealer advertising, of any kind - never have, never will. If they want to pay me for advertising space on my car, I might re-consider!

Yup, the one in the front isn't too bad - where the tax disc holder used to be, they soon jumped on that free space! But the one in the back is at the bottom left, is pretty large and really stands out.

Had the update from the dealer on the mirror as speedybenny pointed out:

They put a sticker where the tax disc used to be?! Now that's desperate.....

Good to know about the mirror anyway - even if it isn't as nice or useful as the old one :(

They seem to think that the space needs filling!

It won't be long until some bright spark at a dealer realises they could use a see-through sticker and cover every bit of glass on the car no doubt! :D
