It just needs to register your hands are on the wheel and you are in control. Even light resting your hands on the wheel the system will warn you.

At least it does on mine.

Anyway the guys question was is it possible to do not if it's right or legal.

I would imagine that as a safety feature it's not possible to change such a setting, at least not to how the OP wants.

This is starting to be bit scary. People are already driving in slippery winter conditions taking stability control for granted; "If I can't handle the car, it will do the rest". Next they will let go of the steering wheel :(  Programmer error is known as PEBKAC (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair)...just replace keyboard with steering wheel and Chair with driver's seat
