Swap a Dance stereo for a swing ?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

just a simple question, is it possible to swap a Dance cd/stereo for a Swing cd unit ? Are the connections the same and straightforward.

My 2008 Fabia 1.9Tdi has a stock Dance unit and no steering controls.

Any advice much appreciated.

Dunno about swapping but you'll need all the steering wheel connections etc too. Is there a benefit to swapping? I would have assumed that by upgrading, you'll most likely want a better, aftermarket jobbie.

I can't remember if the wing was higher or lower spec then the dance one but my Greenline, 2009 has dance and it has a few higher spec bits then some Fabia's.

why would you swap it for a swing?

might aswel put something abit better in if youre doing? Amundsen, Columbus? anythin aftermarket?

As fabiamk2se said if your upgrading to the Amuseden or something similar...not much point going from the Dance -> Swing.

Hi,

was trying to get DAB without  too much cost.

Can you get a swing with dab? Mine doesn't have it.

You are absolutely right that many of the alternative head units with DAB tend to be expensive; they usually have other potentially unnecessary "features" such as SatNav - buy a Garmin with free lifetime updates instead ;)

As a matter of interest, why are you looking for DAB? I suspect that without a different aerial it would be a backward step - except for BBC Five Live. The UK Government is desperate to have DAB replace FM but the British public is reluctant to splash out on what appears to be an expensive and inferior service.

The swing doesn't have dab, i've got the swing. Maybe worth looking at aftermarket stereo's for the price you'll pay for a Skoda one.

Also mentioned above, i cant really give DAB a big thumbs up, my mate has it in his Peugeot, and it's terrible, cant play any dab stations or if we do it's only for a short time.  Stick with FM/SD card/AUX/Bluetooth/USB

OR if you're feeling really brave, install one of these under the glove box:

As above. No DAB on the swing.

The Columbus has it though. Or some do. Mine does (:

Yes it's seems to be a misconception on my behalf. However EBay selling one that looked like it had DAB.

Have a look at item No 262169956139 and you can see display is showing DAB stations.

Having said all of that I've done some research and it seems DAB is very hit and miss so will stay with what I've got and thank you all for comments.

they aren't necessarily DAB stations, it just depends on what area you live in, as to what stations are available.

If you look on the screen, it says FM1 on the left hand side :)

cheers
