Thanks mate. It's been far from fun and as a car person I'm gutted but young family come first.

Bloody awful for you all.

Sorry to hear about the break in kenny :( I gues the Passat will be less attractive to these scum.

I love the R, but these house break ins for the key are a real problem at the moment. Not sure what the answer is, but won't be a problem for me in a couple of months.

In a funny way I'm quite looking forward to the passat, and back to DSG again. I think I've missed it :)

Thanks mate, it's been an awful time to be honest.

I love my cars but not worth this. I'm sure it could happen with passat but certainly less likely as the desire is for fast small cars mostly.

Hopefully the Passat will be great for you

Sorry to hear this Kenny. It probably does now figure in consideration for choosing new cars for quite a lot of us, which is pretty sad really - but that's the world we live in :(

I've always liked my cars and it hurts that these things do this. Car crime is now easy no longer open to those that know, just willing to kick in your door for keys.

Every car I buy now I will consider. Before these events no but now I need to

Passat here and it's brilliant! You will love yours

Know where you are coming from, family and sleeping in peace are a priority.

Enjoy the Passat, I was looking at a nearly new Passat GT DSG but ended up somewhere else.

That was an unbelievable deal :)

Have you had a shipping / delivery date yet 999pooch, for the Alltrack ?

Did you get the alloys repaired on the R before chopping in? If so any good ?

It will be good to read your experiences in the Alltrack Passat.

Oh ! I won't be lonely , DC is another R Estate owner and there are others.

Give us an update on yours kenny

Yeah really enjoying it tbh. Nothing like last car but then wasn't meant to be. Comfort etc is brilliant

Nope!! Still zooming about in the R.

Not long now though. Returned the finance docs today, So they reckon 72 hours to complete their end, then a few days for prep & delivery. So with a fair wind, should have it some time next week :)

The R is planned to go back on Friday, but rang them today & they're relaxed about when it's returned. They said just to keep it as long as I need & they'll just pro rata the monthlies. Reckon I can get them swapped on the same day now. Cool ;)

I've been a bit like that. Been really busy. I'll have a nose around for one.

Hope the car is still good, mines here next week :)

999pooch,

Is it congratulation today or do you have it already?

Bye - bye to the R.

Yep, R went at 10:00. Alltrack arrived at 10:50. Less than 1 hour without a car.

Not bad considering they were different lease companies collecting / delivering.

So simple, and confirms my thoughts that I will never OWN a new car again :)

Only done about 100 miles in the Alltrack, so too early to do any objective review. However, let's just say I'm very impressed so far :)

Plus points -

+ Interior and specification is slightly more premium than the R :)

+ Standard audio system is better than the R. Both the Sound is better and screen has better resolution (I think the MY17 R also gets the higher res screen)

+ Interior LED light strips that are only on the front doors on the R, are on all 4 doors in the Alltrack. Looks much better (& in white, not blue)

+ Standard drivers electric seat (although not passenger!), not that that bothers me ;)

+ Digital rear climate control (daughter very happy)

+ Its big, spacious interior. Huge boot.

+ Standard spec includes Keyless. Wasn't expecting that :)

+ MDI lead gone, now just uses USB for full phone interface.

+ Radar for ACC now hidden behind the VW badge :)

On the negative-

- Slower than the R (no prizes for guessing that). Only comes with DSG, so the 190 horses it does have are smooth and it gathers pace deceptively.

- Nowhere near as precise round corners, but still good for such a barge :)

Travelling to Somerset & back over the next week, so 600 miles with 4 passengers & suitcases. So will be a good test for the Alltrack. My guess is that there will be plenty of room for passengers and their luggage. Will be interesting to see how I feel at the end & what MPG it delivers. Allready loving the DSG & ACC combo :)
