So did you get to having the test drive.

Nope, TBH the deal disappeared, and in hindsight I reckon the bootspace is not going to be big enough for me.

Still looking for the elusive deal :)

Excellent deal on the M135i posted today.

£2160 + 23 x £179+vat

Sounds like I could live with that. Sent a PM to the lease company regarding delivery dates etc. Let's see what they say :)

Your call :

It's played second fiddle to the R for a while now, but at £2k less that the R over 2 years it's one hell of a deal.

Whilst there are many things I would miss on the R, the engine on the Beemer is a class act, and probably the last of its type in mainstream hot hatches :( might be worthwhile just to get one while they're available ;)

Prefer the look of the 235i, just the cost is £2-3k more over 2years :( I'm on a mission to get a nice car on a budget :)

Not what anyone would guess. Totally left field. But deal of the century :)

The suspense is killing me!!! just read this whole thread to get to this cliffhanger....what did you get!!

The man's bought a Skoda!

999pooch,

Enjoy, whatever you have chosen!

Keith

Don't be keeping us in suspense!

A Volvo V-series?

£57/month lol!!!! That's awesome. I'd have got one for that much even if I didn't need it just for a laugh haha ;-)

Enjoy :-)

Lovely job! Spotted that deal on CVL as well, and thought it must have been either a typo or a loss leader!

That's an astonishing deal! Well done. It's a polar opposite to the M135, but far better value. Btw don't let the video of Clonkson driving the M135 put you off one in the future, after all, it did try to kill him.

Wow, I signed up for our Scout on PCH the SAME day the Passat deal was at it's peak - damit!

Just worked my way through the whole debacle on Piston Heads, you certainly landed on your feet there, not often VWFS honour their ****-ups!

Enjoy the car, you (and about only 50 others) must have the PCH deal of the year there.

Just back from a couple of days in Cumbria, blasting round some great B roads in the R ;)

So, as you may have read earlier in my thread I kind of went full circle on what I wanted in a car. Initially I wanted bigger, better and generally more expensive. The more I thought about it, the more I seemed content on having another R, a great all round car :) Then I started realising that lately how little I actually use the car, and it's mainly become a bit of a workhorse rather than a fun toy.

My life definitely has shifted over the last year, with more time allocated to R&R. So with that in mind, I started scouring for a bargain. I didn't want a cheap small, basic car, but a decent mid range, premium(ish) car that was heavily discounted. The actual model & spec being irrelevant.

I came across a deal last week that basically sounded too good to be true. But decided to follow it up anyway. The car-

VW Passat Alltrack 190Ps DSG

Discover Sat Nav

Adaptive Cruise

Folding Heated Mirrors

Electric ErgoComfort Seats

18" Alloys

Comfort Pack

The deal-

£1500 + 23 x £57.78+vat (yep £57.78 a month!!!)

Doc fee £150

Total cost over the 2 years - £2979+vat

This is a car that retail at £34k, so less than 10% of depreciation over 2 years.

It turns out there was only a 1 hour window on this deal earlier this week, between 9-10am. Basically there was an error on the VW costings, which was capitalised on by a couple of lease companies. The Alltrack normaly leases at ~6+23 x £400, so the error was quite significant.

I nervously awaited the outcome as most applications were outside the time window, and only a small number within were approved. Anyway, long story short, I got the phone call from the lease company to say they VW were honouring my application :)

I've now got my contract signed and returned & approved. So a very happy boy.

I've got my R for another 4 months, so will make the most of it, but over the next 2 years I will have about £4k spare to enjoy on extra holidays etc, and Im not exactly slumming it, in a £34k car :)

999pooch,

If the VW / discounter ****-up hadn't happened and you had not had the "silver Surfer " conversion overnight what would have been Your real car choice, where money outgoing had not over ridden your normal driving enthusiam choice.

So now it's Estate Car ("don't need the extra space")diesel (more pollution) etc.Requireing more off-road capability?

God that is some massive about turn, from your previous build up!

That being said, enjoy your new supersaver motor, when it arrives.

However, enjoy enthuastically , all the remaining miles in th R!!!!

You don't need to worry about my U-turn!! The discount was so big (~£4-5k) that it didn't take much thinking about.

There are quite a few things on the car I was wanting anyway, DSG, Adaptive Cruise, Sat Nav etc, so while I won't be arriving at supersonic speed it certainly will be in luxury, as the Alltrack has had the parts bin thrown at it :)

If this, or another super bargain hadn't have come up, I would have almost certainly gone for another Golf R, this time with DSG :)

Anyhow, £5k saved, I've got a few holidays to come over the next 2 years. :) :) :)
