Columbus Tone Settings

Featured Replies

Good morning everyone, still discovering settings/options/features on my Superb 2.0tdi DSG Elegance. The car was first registered in April 15.

I was reading the Operating Instructions for the Navigation system Columbus (the small booklet). At pag 25 I came across the Tone Settings and I can see 2 options which doesn't appear on my unit. The EQ Settings and the Surround.

Is this something specific to an upgraded audio system? I am not sure but I should have the 8 speakers.

I have tried with the search tab in the forum but couldn't find any related topics to this.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Yes; that's for the upgraded audio pack.

Eight speakers is standard Audio, to get the surround and EQ options you need to have the upgraded sound system which uses an external DSP and amp mounted under the passenger seat.

Thank you guys!

The surround option is meh, it does odd things with some music.  It has 3 settings, normal, front and driver.  It changes the levels at each speaker for this but it also seems to mess with stereo separation or phasing sometimes.  It's hard to explain but some types of music, especially with mixings that have some audio tracks at hard left or right (e.g. some Beatles tracks) the surround set at anything other than normal sounds very strange.

The EQ is just some preset curves, you can achieve the same using the High/Mid/Low sliders under tone.  Mine stays at flat all the time.
