drop links / lowered car

Featured Replies

So i need to change the drop links, i have adjustable ones fitted by the previous owner. I have H & R lowering springs off  a polo, advertised as 35mm, but no idea of the true drop ..

would it best to measure the current length, and hope its setup correctly?

Mmm yes, normally ford focus ones iirc

Are they adjustable? or set length? and what Mk focus? ive read Mondeo ones, but for coilover drops, not seen them used for spring lowered cars.

Pretty much all coilovers are better off with the mk1 mondeo drop links I'm sure. They are about an inch shorter if it helps.

I dont have coilovers tho :P

For lowered cars most use the mk1 mondeo drop links. I have them and they will be fine for your car. I'm about 45mm drop.

Standard will probably be fine.

What's wrong with the adjustable ones, why replace them?

I'd stick to standard. Look a good quality ones like Lemforder

The bushes are dropping to pieces. Its not asap, probably a spring job. Im just trying to understand what to spend the old xmas money on :p

Unless the bushes can be replaced??

If going standard then consider Meyle HD units.

My concern is that standard will be to long, im not to sure of the tolerance.

Am I being thick here but I thought you only used the mondeo ones when using coilovers as the attachment on the shock was in a different place.

I'm presuming your using standard shocks with the springs in which case surely the attachment for the drop link will be in exactly the same place no matter what springs your using. Just standard drop links would fit surely?

Could be wrong though been 5 years since I had my fabia not been keeping upto speed

Yes i agree on the mondeo, i thought only for coilovers

 - I have standard suspension with 35m lowering springs. so standard will be fine?

Standard drop links would be fine as the position on the shocker isn't moving for the drop link.

Standard will be ok.

But by lowering the car, coilovers or just springs you are altering the height of where the ARB is mounted to the car, whilst the drop link connection onto strut is staying the same height,so this is where adjustable links come in handy so you can keep the ARB at the same angle etc.

Pretty sure on these drive shaft to ARB clearance is the issue when you go too low?
