Differences between UK and Ireland L&K specs

Featured Replies

I live in Ireland and have an L&K hatch on order (2.0 Diesel 190bhnp DSG) Does anyone know what the specific differences are between the specs in the two countries are?

Welcome

Taking a quick look on the websites:

You get the spare wheels as a no cost option (£100 option in the UK)

The rear wiper is a €94 option (no cost option in the UK)

Adaptive cruise control is a €770 option (ACC is std in the UK)

Smokers package is a free option (£30 in the UK)

You get 17” wheels as std, 19’s look to be a free option though (18” std in the UK, 19’s are a £650 option)

Park assist €375 option (std in the UK)

DAB €122 option ,TV & DAB €1227 option (TV & DAB std in the UK)

KESSY €333 option (std in the UK)

Rear seat backrest release from boot is std (£90 option in UK)

Rear parking camera std (£300 option in UK)

Trailer hitch prep is std (£ option in the UK)

Heated windscreen €321 option (std in UK)

Heated washer nozzles std (£50 option in UK)

Nice comparison Gizmo, lucky I saw your post as I was just about to do something similar. 19" wheels are standard on the L&K in Ireland which is odd as 17s are standard on the Style (SE L) and then it jumps to 19". Also, considering the state of our roads I think 19s are a step too far and 18s would have been the sensible compromise. KESSY should actually be standard on the Irish models too. There are differences in local taxes, exchange rate etc so difficult to make an objective comparison price wise but I've looked at these differences in Specs before and I think you get the slightly better deal in the UK, considering, TV/DAB and ACC are standard. The other differences are lower cost options.

Thanks I really appreciate all the effort. You would think there would be a greater similarity given that we both drive on the same side ! The DAB radio and TV tuner would appear to be the greatest cost differential

I just checked, Skoda don't even offer TV tuner or DAB as optional offers on Superb irrespective of model, any ideas why?

Strange as I found those on the list above on their configurator

(Bottom of the page)

TV tuner

Total € 1 227

you were probably looking the price list....http://www.skoda.ie/brochures/pricelists/

There are some options not always listed there. Best to stick to the configurator as it more complete. DAB iS an option at €122 and DAB and TV tuner at €1,227. It's worth going through the configurator in detail as there are often small items in there e.g. The door bin for €20, the boot net or the rear blind which can be useful and don't cost a huge amount but you might be looking for them afterwards.

Another option in Ireland, I believe, is Webasto pre-heater. Certainly the case for Mk 2. European friends who have it say it is ace. Not available at all in GB

You wouldn't be too far off there!  I've just travelled 200 kms this evening it felt like I was on the sea!!

hmmm

I just ordered up a combi, and there was no webasto option here (ireland) unfortunately. My wife had that in a mark II touran and it was very very nice on a cold morning.

I did order DAB, but dont care about TV, do didnt order up the tv tuner, but it was available.

the 19's on the dynamic suspension are actually ok - I was surprised how much softer the ride was than my current 4x4 combi on 18s.

The L&K comes with 19" Phoenix wheels. Will the larger wheels detract from performance or increase turning radius? Anyone know?

The turning radius will not alter as the circumference of the wheels will be the same no matter what diameter rims you choose.

As for performance, the 19’s may be a bit heavier?? so yes performance may suffer slightly, but TBH I doubt many people would be able to tell the difference, what will make a difference is how much better the car looks on 19”s!

Thanks - it does look great! Coming from a Volvo V70 which had a dreadful turning circle, I'm hoping for better from the Superb, how do you find it?

I don’t think I have needed to do a 180° turn to check the true turning circle yet, but it certainly doesn’t seem any worse than the Yeti or my MKII superb.

The car is however more relaxing to drive than any I have previously owned, even on 19’s and the DCC set to sport.
