Pics of Lamin x covered headlights

Featured Replies

I've just brought 2 different shades of Lamin x and was wondering if people have some pics of there Lamin x covered headlights.

I have the light shade (6% tint) and gunsmoke (12% tint) and would prefer to see pics before I start to unpeel or cut this new stuff. I'm a bit worried that the light stuff maybe too light and the gunsmoke may be too dark impeding the light output.

That's light smoke tint before and after

Hope this helps

That's quite dark actually for a light tint!

Never have been a huge fan of it though.

It does look quite dark, or is that just the photo? I quite like it though, be nice to see it on the car...

Yeah that's darker than I thought it would be but I quite like it though defiantly leaning more towards the lighter stuff at the minute.

I could never cover beautiful xenons like that, they need to be nice and shiny! :D

Normal headlights maybe :p

I had the lightest tint on a couple of years ago and always photographed much darker than in real life. Some pictures make it look really dark whereas others no so much..

^^That's pretty much the look I'm going for I want it to be noticeably darker but not chav style just a subtle tint to make it stand out a little.

I'm making mine as different as I can without standing too much, because lately their have been a rise in the number of silver vrs's around my way and they all look silmilar at first glance apart from mine which has a few subtle differences.

Here's mine.

The middle picture of the three I posted is closer to real life than the last one.

What I will add is that even the lowest tint requires upgraded bulbs as it does reduce the light output, but I'm sure you already knew that :p

That was the pic I was looking at it looks a bit more natural.

Yeah I'm aware of that I'm currently waiting for some morimoto xb35 bulbs to arrive plus I spent last weekend polishing the headlights so I'm hoping the light output is still ok. If not I may have to invest in some 55w ballasts or even go down the retrofit path, although I have oem xenons that I would like to keep if possible.

Around Cities the reduced light doesn't really make much difference TBH, it was more when I was on country roads in the middle of the Devon countryside where there is zero light pollution.

Does Lamin X reduce the brightness of your headlights projected onto a dark road at all, or is the light able to shine through it completely? I really like the look of the SE above but would hate to make my lights worse for driving.

As I stated above, even the lowest tint reduced the light output.

sorry, i didn't see that above. I thought that might be the case, i had flyeye on my Punto and it reduced the light output despite being a mesh

For me it's more about looks, to be honest my lights are perfectly adequate although having more light output is obviously beneficial. I'm hoping the extra output from the new, hopefully better bulbs will counter that, if not I will look at replacing/improving the factory xenon's at some point

If the light output is reduced to much then the car will fail the MOT test if it falls below the minimum required level. Lamin-X have a "Offroad Use only" clause in their T&Cs to remove them of all responsibility.

I have no concerns their having owned a few older cars, plus I'm a garage equipment engineer who calibrates and services mot bay amongst other things. I know through experience that the most mot testers do not check lumen output unless glaringly obvious, most are only concerned about alignments.
