On the motorway.......

Could an overhead Sign say " NO MIDDLE LANE AHEAD " and then another sigh saying  " ALTERNATIVE ROUTE " at the next Exit. It might get hoggers off the Motorways.

The no middle lane thing might not work

yanno when theres occasionally 4 lanes, which is sign posted roughly 3 miles ahead to merge back into the 3rd lane. Yet no end of folk still run it to the last second before moving over?

it might be like that. They'll just sit waiting :D

To the op, never driven at 60 mph on a free moving M way, so always pass in Lane 3. Always pull back into L1 afterwards, some get the hint, many don't

All too many dont. Its shocking.

I went from lane 1 to 3 with my full beams on past someone on Sunday, then back to lane 1.

The only thing i got was a funny look of confusion off him as i went past.

He never did move over, well. I didnt stop around to check, but from what i could see in my mirrors :D

I think these people are the ones who think in terms of "slow lane/fast lane", so you should be in a certain lane if you're doing a certain speed.

.....the only place I've actually seen that is Millbrook proving ground on the speed bowl.....ooo, now there's a place to put the CLOGgers ;)

I've done all of the above. I've tried undertaking while on the horn to "alert the driver to my presence". I stopped doing this when I realised that this didn't even manage to wake up one in ten drivers to the fact they are sitting in the middle Lane! (I still don't understand how drivers can be that thick skinned). Now I've pretty much given up and just get past them with whatever method seems most suitable to the road conditions.

Won't it be fun when we start to see driverless vehicles. Will they be in the right lane at the right time without causing any incidents? For the record I'd go from lane 1 to lane 3 and back.

Just remembered the funniest one I've ever had. It was late, I was driving a transit towing a big long  trailer with a car on it, I was in no rush, so I was just doing 60 in lane 1. Ever the course of many, many miles, I came up on a Middle Lane Owner's Club member. As I got near, I flashed them to let them know I was there, so hopefully they've got into lane 1, because you can't tow in the outside lane. No reaction, don't think I ever woke them, so I started on the longest, slowest undertake ever. Part way through, we got to their junction, they signalled left, but what could I do, so I just carried on (possibly exactly matching their speed).

What must have been an utter ****er for them was the 10 mile drive to the next junction.

That's excellent, hopefully they realised what they'd done wrong!

A set of US police car 'nudge bars' and a quick lesson in fishtailing should do the job...

Ever wondered why mk5/smiley transits have a lump each side of the number plate? Bumpers that are designed for bumping. So tempted, so many times.

;)

I think the kind of driver that sees the motorway this way is never going to understand any kind of hint from a driver who knows the rules, most are either bemused or get angry if you flash / indicate or gesture to them to move over...

Funniest one for me was when I came up behind one on my motorbike. I could have easily passed in the outside lane but just decided to sit behind him with full beam on - nice bright light and nice and high when close behind! The inside of his car was lit up like Blackpool Illuminations!

He continued to sit in lane 2 but then started to repeatedly look over his shoulder all worried like! :D  Made me chuckle.

He eventually pulled over and I just cruised past slowly and glanced at him (he looked like a right train-spotter) before giving it some.

Haa.

They dont bother me half as much on the bike tbh. Okay its a pain going over to lane 3, but a flick of the wrist and theyre gone, and im usually cruising alot faster anyway (its comfier that way :D)

I usually set the cruise in the car, so i find myself just going 1-5mph faster. Which is a ballache :D

All three for me but mainly lanes 1 to 3 then back to 1 again. I find it annoying when drivers pull out into lane 2 on a dual carriage way to turn right at the next roundabout 2 miles ahead. I undertake then, especially if they are going slower than the speed limit.

If they really annoy me i overtake them and then go really slow right infront of them and when they go to overtake i steadily go the same speed as them.

Why should it only be me who gets annoyed from their stupidity?
