Hids again... 6000k or 8000k 55w projectors

Featured Replies

Going from standard halogen to a 35w 4300k kit made a huge difference in my car. The light output from the drivers seat is very good and looks lovely and white.

Looking at the car from the outside they have a slight blue tint to them. Obviously the camera just makes them look a blurred/glary mess but they're not like that with the eye;

If you don't need full beam then they're probably horribly misaligned and blinding.

Agreed. Given the nature of projector lights they have a very clean and sudden cut off in the beam and so do not illuminate anything (apart from the reflective signs) past this point. That is of course assuming that you're using them in a projector light and not a reflector light (thumbs down if the latter!)

5000k for me, white with a hint of blue, I would have 4300 if I could have found them.

Full beam is turd on standard car I upgraded them too that made a difference too.

Never get flashed for them also my mates i have seen coming towards me say they are alright so i think they are just bright haha

I use this set-up Philips Xtreme Vision Xenon D2S 12V / 35W + 50% .4800K
Ballast, HID Xenon Canbus Can bus 12V 55W AC X55 Fast Bright Ballast.
OEM xenon headlights.
No problems, and installation was easy. I had already H7 model lamps rear decks ready for what I made holes for wiring.
Although the bulbs have already been the age of 2 years and 70.000 kilometers. Nevertheless, when I compared the old and the new ballast 35w 55w Ballast was a noticeable difference.
And no I do not have any melted or broken. And hey, these D2S bulbs was genuine and not any cheap Chinese copies.
But, as already stated, the color temperature decreased when to use 55w ballast. But I do not have too much. Previous bluer color turned white, while maintaining a cleaner just slightly bluish.
In the past, as observed over 5500K begin the actual light power to calculate what a larger color temperature's going on. That is, in fact, I see no logical reason to do so.

I have 4300 in my fabia, which gives the best stock xenon look in my opinion. :)

i had 8000Ks on my Punto and ended up buying 6000Ks as they were too blue and didn't light the road as well as the normal H7 bulbs i had previously fitted

Hehe certainly the best OEM xenon look !!

But the light never have too much available :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun:that's why I prefer 55w ballast!! and around 4000K color temperature :cocktail:

I've purchased a 35w 6000k canbus friendly hid kit for now, will of course put before and after pictures against my garage door or somthing

I think the lower K bulbs seem less glarey (is that a word?). I reckon I could drive for longer, more comfortably in the dark with a lower K headlight than the snow-blind kind before my eyes got tired.

it might be irrelevant for fabia but for mk2 Octavia is recommended to fit non canbus kit and code it in with vcds. Reason is the canbus friendly version can cause damage to some control modules due to increased current load.

Thank you for letting me know, I've never heard of this on the Fabia but will see what other people say about the matter but I'm sure mine will be fine

I'm looking at buying HIDs once i fit my projector lights, i hadn't even though of can-bus compatible ones. Where did you get them from?

Here's a couple of pics of me replacing the drivers side xenon from a factory Philips bulb to a Morimoto xb35 4500k.

The first pic is the original the second is a pic of the new bulb as you can see it's defiantly brighter and more intense than the new bulb, the third is a side by side comparison of the actual bulbs.

My camera isn't the best unfortunately but it gives you an idea of the color from a 4500k bulb. I'll upload them probably to photo bucket when I have a chance which will increase the resolution of the photos to make them a bit clearer.

Most people (including me) got the hids from company called londoncolour on ebay.

they look a lot brighter, i think mine have been in since new so due a change

They are without a doubt brighter than what was in there how much brighter they are than a normal bulbs is difficult to tell as my bulbs were probably well over due a replacement.

Like I said I'll update the other thread properly at some point although my PCs not been working for a while which makes everything a little harder.

I've bought some 5000k ones also now for the projectors in my mums vw golf so will see the difference I suppose :)

There is a part of me that wished I went for 5000k but I already pulled the trigger before I'd thought about it. Oh well next time maybe.

I'm pretty sure that on the Fabia you have to buy the canbus friendly kit.

The Fabia has never had xenon lights and so the coding just isn't there like in the Octavia.

This is a mk 1 so yes xenons were an option. I don't think they need coding in as it's no where near as complicated as the Octavia.

I think it simply monitors for an open circuit, and doesn't monitor load.

Oh yeah. I'm getting my Mk1 and Mk2 confused!
