Just about to place an order- advice appreciated

Featured Replies

I need to place an order for a new company car tomorrow and after test driving all sorts I've settled on a new Superb SE L Exec 150 diesel DSG. In addition to standard spec I'm probably going to add: Reversing camera, park assist and DCC. What I'd like to ask is whether there are other options I should really consider?

Is the Canton system worth it? The standard audio in car I tested didn't sound too bad (not sure how many speakers standard spec has- does anyone know?) But I haven't had chance to hear the Canton system.

Does colour maxidot make much difference?

What about the other infotainment systems? They seem like gimmicks but do they have any real world value?

Is there anything else I'm missing or should look out for?

What do you wish you'd added or known before you ordered?

Advice greatly appreciated

I'd certainly consider a Spare Wheel, DSG Paddles and Travel Assist.

Definitely go for the reversing camera.

I think the standard audio setup is 8 speakers: 1 woofer and 1 tweeter per door. I can't comment on the Canton (yet) as I haven't heard both systems to compare.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the DCC as a cost option, given the feedback from drivers and reviewers. I would use the £750 on some other options.

I would definitely opt for the £100 spare wheel, the tyre gunk isn't guaranteed to get you mobile again.

The colour maxidot does add functionality over the standard monochrome screen and is worth the modest £85 upgrade cost IMO.

If you want some visual enhancement, go for the 'LED package plus' for £195. It adds LED lights all over the place as well as the multi coloured LED strips across the dash and along all 4 door cards.

Maybe consider Bluetooth+ for £250. You get a re-radiating antenna for your mobile phone where the coin tray usually is under the climatronic controls. This boosts your phone signal by up to 20%.

As you're opting for DSG, the three spoke steering wheel with paddles is a nice upgrade for £95.

The £300 heated windscreen is a very nice option on any car. I have it on my current Mk2 Superb and it's now a 'must have'. I think it's part of a 'winter pack' that has to include heater washers at £50.

Don't forget you have a few no cost options for 18" alloys on the SE-L. Zenith alloys are standard but Modus and Pegasus alloys are NCOs.

If you have chosen the hatchback, the rear wiper is also a NCO. It isn't fitted by default!

If you have ordered the estate, the variable boot floor is a worthwhile £150 upgrade. It makes the boot floor almost flat with the rear seats folded down and generally makes the boot a more useful space.

I've opted for the £150 partition net screen as I always carry gear in the boot. It's added safety in the event of a shunt.

I haven't bothered with Smartgate or Media command as they don't add anything worthwhile (IMO). The standard Columbus has all the connectivity you need.

As a Canton owner, it's definitely worth it. Standard system lacks the 'punch' IMHO.

LED package and colour maxi dot are low cost options that really add to the car. Was in one the other day with LED and it transforms the cabin IMO

For the modest cost, I think it's a great upgrade.

The LED strips can be switched between green, blue, orangey red and white I believe?

If you currently own a Skoda car then ask about the customer loyalty discount offer. You should be entitled to an additional £1000 off if you place an order before early February. That's on top of any other discounts or offers. It's. To well publicised but you can get details if you look hard enough.

Good luck.

Through chronic impatience I bought an SE L Exec off the showroom floor last month. "Options" were therefore not opted for but were already loaded. Not sure what additional ones I would have chosen but as I expect to be using the load capacity of the estate a lot I'm certainly glad I got the variable boot floor and I think the Keyless Entry and Virtual Pedal will be good to have (though it's not certain I would have volunteered £550 for them if I had had the decision to make). Given the fact I have a white car (would probably have chosen the metallic green or brown) and the weather we've been "enjoying" I'll be having mudflaps fitted at the earliest opportunity.

For the modest cost, I think it's a great upgrade.

Green, blue, or an orangey white are the options

I got fairly close then  :D

I don't see the LED package as an option in the Superb Business brochure. Do I have an old version?

I've just had a nosey through the SE Business brochure (link below). It's the latest version (December 2015)

It doesn't list the LED Plus package in there. It would seem there is a fixed list of options for the SE Business editions. Unfortunately, the LED Plus package looks like it is only available on the non business orientated models.

*EDIT* I just checked the standard brochure and the LED pack isn't available on the standard SE either. Optional on SE-L Exec and standard on L&K.

Many thanks for checking. Greatly appreciated. Shame it is not an option :(

Not a problem

Sorry it's not an option that's available to you.
