Terminal 30G not working as it should be

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've tried to lower the time for the terminal 30G (p/n seen by VCDS is 6Q1-937-049 - there are no other chars)to cut the interior lights power after 1 minute but it doesn't seem to work. I can hear a relay working, like a 'click'. The interior lamp shuts off for a fraction of a second and it gets right back on. What am I doing wrong here?

Later edit: can somebody tell me which units / fuses are powered by terminal 30G and how can it be powered on without the ignition key and with the ECU telling it to be off?

I've managed to get it working. I think it was a bad wire somewhere, acutally it might still be. I've just taken down the interior lamp and put it back in. Terminal 30G cuts the power right in time so it prevents an accidental flat battery due to leaving a light running. I haven't got enough time to check if it also works with the cigarette lighter 12V socket and the headlights.

@Alexandru and others who want to play around or test their car:

* Terminal 30G relay; known as  J317 - Terminal 30 voltage supply relay, is found under the cover below the steering-wheel / above the pedals.

* It controls the front interior (reading) lights and rear reading lights -and/or- the  door contact switch (does not apply to models with central locking)

* The relay J317 becomes active when you open one of the doors or remove the key from the contact of your car and would stay on for about 30 minutes. (Not sure if it's disabled when you lock the car)

* Howto adjust the activation time of terminal 30G:

* Doc at Ross-Tech: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Skoda_Fabia_(6Y)_Central_Electronics#Adaptation

* Terminal 30G fuse is fuse no. 10 (5A) in the little fuse-box under the battery-box (see attached image).

Sorry moderator. I had a timeout. Could you remove the post above here?

* Terminal 30G relay; known as  J317 - Terminal 30 voltage supply relay, is found under the damper below the dash panel on the driver side.

* The relay J317 becomes active when you open one of the doors (door switches) or remove the key from the contact. I would stay on for about 30 minutes (by default if the car is unlocked) and it must turn off when you lock the car or turn on the contact.

J317 is soldered to the circuit board within the Onboard Supply Control Unit J519. Cabin fuse 4 supplies it with permanent 12V.

I might have a play with the timing later, thanks. :)

Indeed. Reducing the time of Terminal 30 saves to 1 or 5 minutes saves about 12 watts or 1 amps of battery power. And people cannot easily see you(in the dark, stuffing your mouth with a huge hamburger while parked at some fast-food restaurant.

* Fuse 4 removes the power to the interior lights, but not the relay J317 itself.

Other interior lights:

* The (red) door warning lights (fuse 5) are operated by relay J560 (on the relay holder board) and J560 is operated by J393 - the Convenience electrics central control unit.

* The luggage compartment lights (Fuse 4) are controlled by F5 - The luggage compartment light switch (the round thing next to lock in the compartment).

* The glovebox light (Fuse 4) is controlled by the glovebox lock.

I guess you mean the coil could still be energised?

J560 is shown as being fitted as a relay in the relay panel only until 10/02, as far as I can see; and the door warning lights fed directly from the output of relay J317 within J519 module after that. What year is your car?

Yes, I meant 'but not the power to relay J317 itself'. It's a Fabia MK1 Saloon, license plate is from Aug 2001, but the VIN number says it's a 2002 model (?). I never looked at the relays present in the car since my physic doesn't really allow it to work under the dashboard.

I think if fuse 5 disables the door warning lights then you must have J560.

Good work. :)

Yes, it does. So many different versions/improvements despite the same engine (AQW) for my car.

:D

@TMB, I had that situation last week at the MCD. People staring parked in front of me. Annoying :)

The interior light only stays on for several seconds though doesn't it. And it has a switch if you wanted to turn it off before that. Slightly puzzled by what you mean.

The light goes on for x minutes when you open a door or remove the key from the contact. Otherwise if have to move three switches to disable them.

Does it? I'm going to nip outside and time mine because I'm sure mine doesn't go on that long.

Just done it. Mine goes off after 30 seconds.

I'm not sure. Feeling exposed for more than 5 secs is maybe enough for me :)

Thanks for checking it. I'll check mine out tomorrow. My car is parked 80 yards away and my wife is about to shoot me when I say the word 'car', 'Skoda' or 'Fabia' in any sentence at this moment. ;)

Haha

No problem :)

Is there anything else controlled by adjusting terminal 30G? Hope I didn't miss anything on the flow charts. X relief relay?

Hello stranger.

"After two years, the monster awakens with a grotesque smile.. to find out that somebody dared to enter his tomb and switched on the interior lights" (?).

@Alexandru I see a lot of instructions on the internet for adjusting the terminal 30 in the thread you started. This might be very interesting to tweak, but I cannot find any good tested side-effects or advantages of adjusting this by our old MK1 Fabia's besides the interior light relay, sig. lighter (some models?), carkit etc.

So what is your experience?

ps. my interior light goes out in 20 seconds too.

My car is hacked in all the possible ways. :) There is a 12V live feed from the dome light which powers a radar detector and a 5V transformer for the dash cam. I was looking for a solution of automatically turning those off once the car was locked, but apparently it didn't like my mods. A relay was cutting the live feed for under a second (as the timer was set, no questions about it working properly) and then, for some reasons, power was restored. Maybe .. maybe .. some of the residual power on the circuit was triggering it and I should've used a diode or something, I don't know. I haven't got any further with this matter. It's on standby for now.

Document page 31 in here gives some info about the sleep/wake function (in equivalent Polo, but probably identical). Not sure whether it helps much?
