Rear view mirror

Featured Replies

hi I have recently upgraded my 2013 elegance octavia to a 2015 se octavia on the inside ceiling of the car I have three small clear plastic circles just behind the interior front lights and rear view mirror trim assembly can't find them anywhere in manual any idea what they are? I am thinking they may be sensors for dimming rear view mirror but the mirror has a clip to face it in the down/block position and on my old elegance it had a switch on the rear view mirror to switch on and off the dimming system

Have you got a picture of them? Not quite sure which bit you mean...

No sorry they are on the roof of the car about level with front seats and are built in to plastic trim that looks like it houses the front interior lights

Submarine lights - similar to these?

There is three of them in a line can take pic tomorrow bit to dark now if that helps

Pretty certain, from what you're describing, they're alarm sensors.

How do you upload pics from iPad?

Immediately behind the flip-down cover for the glasses holder? If yes, they're alarm sensors

Yes I think they are

Does the se have a rear view dimming mirror ?

No sure off the top of my head. If the mirror has a button at the centre of it's underside, that you can press to turn it on and off (little green light just under the mirror comes on if it's on), then yes.

They maybe the ambient lights.

Go in your car at night turn the lights on, you'll notice it lighting down onto the gearstick area.

It's covered by Fuse 34 I believe :

TCS, ESC button, tyre control display, pressure sensor for air-conditioning,
reverse light switch, interior mirror with automatic dimming,
START-STOP button, telephone preinstallation, control for
heating of rear seats, sensor for air-conditioning, 230 V power
socket, sport-sound generator

Check you've not just turned it off. Button is located on the bottom of the mirror body.

I think it's the ultrasonics for the alarm system. Three of them, one central and two angled either side.

correct

No its the ambient lights, 3 of them.

There are only 2 alarm sensors.

I get a light come up on mine. Buggered if it actually does anything though this auto dimming, I prefer on my old car just manual flipping of mirror to the dim setting as you do !

Anyone else notice very little impact on it even when on - is there a test for it working ? Nothing like the "dim" flip setting of classic rear view mirror as far as I can see. Maybe its more subtle

Actually came across this, looks like a simple daytime check

The three black dots are the ultrasonic sensors for the alarm interior monitoring.

The SE doesnt come with an auto dip rear view mirror as standard. If you have a thinner mirror with the switch that actually rocks the mirror between normal and dip view then its just a regular old rear view mirror.

The mirror is attached to a similar screen base to the Elegance on an SE though as the SE has 2 zone climate as standard and the humidity sensor for that is mounted in the rear view mirror frame....the idea behind that is that it can detect conditions with assitance from the solar sensor mounted on the dash where the screen might mist up and will prevent the stop start system cutting in if the climatronic is switched on to stop the AC shutting off and the screen misting. Likewise if the car is stopped due to stop start it can request to the stop start system to restart the car due to risk of misting. Pretty clever.

Also from a certain build week more recently Skoda now fit auto lights and wipers to the SE, the mirror base being the one able to hold the rain and light sensor.

Hope that all makes sense.

That was the case last spring (I've got them) but that was part of a temporary offer around the change of model year. I can't find any sign of that in the current brochure and it explicitly states that the SE L has the rain sensor in addition to the SE equipment.

My SE is a bit of a mixture of that. It was built July 2015.

It has auto lights and wipers, as an option, but no auto dimming mirror and no HBA (High beam assist) camera.

Its got a smaller mirror base with a humidity sensor, and the rain sensor.
