you do 11000 miles in 4 months ( was it ever not being used ), Skoda offer you a deposit back but who do you expect to pay for all the miles you have put on the car.

I mean if the noise was that bad or dangerous wouldn't you have parked it up or left it at the dealers but you kept driving it!

look at it this way 30k car they have taken back with high mileage. they hope to get 24k for it leaving 6k unaccounted you pay 2k them 4k

as for your opinion, everyone has their own thoughts but that just made you out to be spoilt brat. the car had one fault but now you don't get your way its falling apart.

TONYDO,

Just went back to your review on page 12 of this forum. "1000 miles in my new superb review". interesting read.

It would appear to me that you were unhappy with your new Superb from almost day one, issues with engine noise, DSG etc, could it also be that the issue is also down to it having a Skoda Badge, I'm not sure you really thought about your choice before purchase, you said the Mazda and the Mondoe  were a better drive, why then did you buy the Skoda, all very bazar.

Part of your original quote is below.

Now moving onto the DSG....... Not so great and not as smooth as a normal auto. In traffic at around 1-5mph the car stays in 2nd which creates engine noise. The engine itself is not quiet and does sound like a tractor. If you have the music on then it's not so bad but when its just the engine then it's loud. I've come out of a Peugeot 508 and that was much quiter and smoother. The DSG doesn't seem to work out the correct gear and when slowing and accelerating there's a juder. When the car is idle you can feel vibrations through the gear leaver. I have taken a few people for a spin in the car and they have all commented on the engine noise.

Apart from the grizzley engine and DSG the car drives well. I nearly went for a mazda 6 and had a long test drive in that. The auto box on the Mazda was incredible and smooth. Also the car drives much better than the new superb. I also drive the new mondeo and found that to drove better than the Superb.

The reason I went for the Superb was because its the latest car on the market, it's got all the kit and looks amazing. I just really wished the Diesel engine was smoother and the DSG worked better. I might take it in to Skoda to see if maybe I have a bad gearbox?

Pretty much sums up my thoughts too - I did have some sympathy until this evening's rant.

Guys I'm not a brand snob, if I was I wouldn't have brought a Skoda.

All the previous comments are my personal experiences with the car, and I have a right to express that.

I've had the car 4 months and it's not been right from day 1. I have driven another 150ps DSG Superb and it was a dream compared to mine.

The dealers have had the car on 4 occasions and on 3 occasions I've had to taxi it 40 miles each way. Also while the car has been on the dealerships I've been off work costing me more money. The stress had been unbearable at times.

It wasn't just the N75 valve but various pipes catching etc.

It's been no joy. People are saying you've had it for 4 months and only spent 2k? That's £500 a month. I could have hired a car for less to be honest.

I still go by the Mazda and Modeo being a better car to drive, the the Superb was best overall mainly due to looks and size which I needed.

I wish it was fault free or maybe had 1 or 2 faults that were dealt with properly but that hasn't been the case. I would have been happy to continue with the Superb had it been resolved quicker and better.

Apologies to anyone who has been offended but it's the only place to have a rant and express my frustration.

I wish everyone luck with theres and i hope no one goes through what I have.

Cheers Guys

We all pay our money and hope all goes well, I looked at many different manufactures, Merc C Class, Mazda 6, Ford Mondaeo, VW Passat, KIA Optima, Hyundai i40, did my homework on all of the various forums, tried to identify any issues before purchase, but you can always face getting a Friday motor, as I said before, with mass production there will alway be unit failures.

Many of us on here, in the very early days of the new Superb being announced, took a chance and ordered our new cars without a test drive, thats a risk we took, but I also purchased my Superb based on my company Octavia SE Business 2.0TDI DSG, this has been a fantastic car, but as I said earlier, my first Octavia was rejected because of a Turbo fault which the dealer informed us about a few days before delivery, with this in mind I still made the decision to still purchase a new Superb.

I priced up the Merc C Class with all the extras that wanted on the Superb, the additional cost was huge, an easy 14K + more, similar storey with the Mondaeo, the Mazda came closest to the Superb, but after reviewing the electrical issues that these have suffered, it was not for me, I had a budget that I wanted to keep too, at the end of the day my SEL EXEC with toys after discount came to £25600, a great deal, its not a Merc but it did not cost Merc prices, as always compromise.

I agree that Skoda / VW need to pay more attention the customer service, I think we can all learn from these experiences, I hope that Skoda HQ visit and read these forums, they can learn much about customer satisfaction and also pick up on issues that can help put things right at the point of production, after all we all want a good product and service.

On a final note, my colleague at work has a new VW Passat Estate, 3 months old, £37K with toys, the door mirrors have started to operate on there own, folding in and adjusting the mirrors, in addition the window have also started to do odd things whilst being driven, VW had the car in last week, but have not yet been able to identify the faults, so you can pay a lot more but still have things wrong.

Good luck to you and I hope you have better luck next time.

Do you honestly think Skoda should foot the bill of 11,000 miles of motoring because you had to have the radio a little louder than you'd like?

I'm astonished they gave you your deposit back tbh.

I think any reasonable person would see that the offer you have been made is very generous indeed.

Time to move on chap.

It wasn't just the noise. The car wasn't right and still isn't right. I'm sure you would do the same thing.

Also why would you accept a noise and turn up the radio when you've spent 32K on a car?

Anyway I'm done with this now and like you said time to move on

I think your rant may have been in the wrong direction as some of these people were on your side and trying to help you. If you can concentrate on the facts and lose any emotion which I understand maybe difficult given your experience then the cold light of day may make decision making easier. (it certainly helps me and some of us have been through similar experiences- I had it with Caravan which was replaced) Your unhappiness appears to be related to only the engine noise but it has gone on a long time and has now soured your experience of what is still a great car. You must have thought this when you decided to buy it like others who also agreed with you. It has not changed just your perspective. Given that you have been made an offer which appears good to me and others and that £2k for 11k miles is indeed good value and a hire car of similar status vehicle would definitely be a lot more. If you now have a new car in say 4 months time then the new one will be almost a year newer than the original and all it will have cost is the repayments with no depreciation and your mileage will be back to zero. You will also have a different car which will be without the fault and your payments will be in the value of the new car. Always helps me to have 2 pieces of paper to write down all the pros on one and cons on another and then you can make a reasoned decision on a way forward.

:) topics like this is why Skoda I believe love the site, but hate it too ;)

There are bound to be a few lemons in a rapid mass production model, especially a newish one. I tested an alfa once, they knew I was coming and it wasn't right at all... I think the outcome is actually quite good in this day and age.

I realise the skoda bridge is quite probably in tatters, but members here have open and robust views :) In tomorrows cold light of day I hope we can all see this is a lemons fault not any member on here.

/farewell.

Tonydo.

I do feel for your predicament but you have been very unlucky but IMO reasonably treated.  You have had a very rare clunker, they used to be around all the time.  A check on the thread "Built (sic) quality of Superb 111" will show that there have been very few quality problems in the thousands of S3s delivered.  Of those most of them were small matters quickly dealt with by the dealers concerned.  That thread has just got to attract any customers with beefs with their cars, it should be like a ****** great magnet, what an opportunity to vent your rage and anger with a fair chance that SUK Customer Support will see the problems and if they don't look at Briskoda in general and that thread in particular the whole lot of them should be fired what a fantastic opportunity to get the word direct from the customers mouth you could not buy this kind of feed back..

Firstly it's not just noises. On 3 occasions various pipes have been touching each other creating rattling. The 4th occasion they have found the N75 valve needs replacing.

Agreed not major problems but that fact still remains it's a brandnew car. I don't think I'm being to hasty by asking for a replacement. I believe that the one I have will have more problems in the future.

30k on any car is a lot of money. I would seriously consider spending a few thousand extra and go for a eclass merc estate. I have a friend who has one and it's been a dream. Merc = fantastic customer care.

I'm looking at a jag sport brake now

I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience with your Superb & Skoda UK, but I wouldn't necessarily agree with your Merc = fantastic customer care! One of the reasons I've bought my new Superb is that I was completely fed up with the customer service with my Mercedes E Class & felt that it was no better if not worse than Skoda but cost far more! I'm still waiting for my Mercedes dealer to get back to me with an issue I raised in September! I usually keep my cars for around 5-7 years, my Mercedes has lasted just 21 months. This was not an isolated case as my mother's neighbour also had issues (with the same dealer) & has written to the MD of Mercedes UK & now drives a Volvo!!!
