Strange Xenon problem...

Featured Replies

Morning all!

Got in my car this morning to notice a strange fault with my lights. They were fine when I left the car 2 nights ago, then got in this morning, the lights did their start up thing and they're completely out of alignment (height wise).

Not sure which one is at fault, but they're definitely way off level. Tried restarting the car etc and still the same problem.

Obviously I'm going to get it into my local dealer as soon as possible, but was just wondering has anyone else experienced this / what the resolve was if you have?

Cheers.

They're normally a little higher or lower one side but haven't seen them way off. Try setting the lights to drive on the other side and then back, see what they do on each setting when you start. Changed in setup, lights from infotainment I think

Thanks for the suggestion...mine have always been perfectly level when not in City Mode, and now it's noticeably off. Will try this though!

I have found that if you start the car close to a wall or other object and the front of the car is facing it, they seem to set low, but if there's no objects close by they are definitely higher.

Try passing slowly over a large speed hump in an effort to get them to move up and down over their maximum travel, hopefully this will either reset them or totally bugger them  :D

Usually when the level sensors on the suspension underneath the car fail, or the system breaks the headlights hit the deck (default to their lowest setting) as they are designed to fail-safe (i.e. not dazzle other road users).

As with most things on modern cars, the best way to check will be to read the fault codes, this will be what the dealer will do after plugging the car in.

Got it booked into Skoda..hopefully they can quickly identify what's up and sort it! Not sure how on earth it has happened as the car was parked on a driveway for 2 days and when I come back to it then it does this - not impressed!

So had the car in this morning and having to get a new off-side headlight ordered under warranty - apparently the light is defective.

Hats off to Citygate in Colindale - first class customer service and really helpful
