Corrosion

Featured Replies

Think I would get Skoda to pay out for this? 07 plate. Or if not what is the best way to sort this out myself. Any advice is greatly welcomed.

I would guess no they won't,as stone chip damage is a get out clause for them, and 99% of corrosion in high impact areas like your sill are from stone chips.

I would get a small Dremel like tool and remove the corrosion back to clean metal, then use a good quality metal paint on it.

Rust Bullet is a awesome paint, but it's expensive.

Thank you for the reply.

I've got a dremel and a wire brush attachment so that should do the trick. Thinking of using bilt hamber deox gel followed by their zinc primer before painting over in black magic.

Yup I've used that before, good stuff. In fact I've used it a lot

Yeah bilt hamber stuff is good

I use Krust, it works well and is cheapish, then i paint over with hammer right.

Thank you for the replies.

Will order from Bilt Hamber and post up the results when I get around to it.

Might be useful to people who search a similar issue in the future.

My 07 looks like that possibly even worse, just cleaned the front area yesterday with dremel to shiny metal, treated ( about 1,5cm x 6cm on drivers side and 1cm x 2cm on passenger side). I've POR-15 which is great stuff, car restorers use it. There are plenty of blisters along the sills, so I'll tackle the full lot in the summer.....at least they don't rot as bad as E46 beemers

I posted a while back about rusting in the top hinge areas of the back door (hatch back).

Anybody else had a look in this area? Obviously you need the hatch back open to look but I was shocked by what I found. I've successfully claimed for a new drivers door last year and waiting for a response about this latest discovery. They can't blame this one on stone chips!!!
