Odd noise from what seems like the speaker. Octavia 2015

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently bought a new Octavia VRS petrol, my problem is one of noise at 2100rpm. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in the noise always happens at 2100rpm.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance

What sort of noise?

What kind of noise?

VRS sound generator?

I had something similar, a kind of resonance vibration noise. Put it down to my sunglasses ìn the overhead holder. Seems to have gone now though. Mine is a vrs tdi.

Its difficult to describe the noise, its like there is a vibration noise, once I go past 2100rpm it goes. Very odd. I might try and record the sound and post it on here if its allowed.

It's allowed

Probably the sound generator. It vibrates the bulkhead and windscreen to produce the augmented engine noise and on my few month old Mk7 Golf GTD it makes the passenger side of my dash rattle quite badly.

I did look into having it sorted...dealer said it would be a dash out job so told them in plain terms not to bother. Its nt so bad when the interior is warm though.

You can have the sound generator volume altered with VCDS, and on the Octy3 you can also just disconnect the wire under the scuttle panel.

If it's a buzzing noise, not the sound that the sound generator makes, have a look at the bulkhead. Just to the right of the middle is a clamp holding two connectors. Make sure the connectors are well clipped in, if loose can buzz with the sound actuator. This happens on my 63 plate

My VRS used to do it, dealer told me pretty much what pipsypreturns was told. I didn't fancy the dash of my brand new car removed so I just got used to it.

Eventually it went away but if it really bothers you it may be worth booking it in.

Strange mine is making like a metal/tinny vibrating noise, from what sounds like the passenger door (though could also be the dash area). Never done it before until the other day. Only on rough road surfaces (which is most!!l)

Rattling fuel line can also make that noise, around about the same RPM range, at least mine did. Worst when the car has warmed up and is holding gear. Dealer was able to fix it in one visit.

Mine makes this noise, too, I posted a thread on here about it some time ago. I described mine as sounding like cellphone interference on the passenger door speaker, but I turned all phones off and even left them at home during testing. Made no difference. I never got to the bottom of it but the problem has improved and seems now to only kick in when the car is coolish and at motorway speeds.

Same sound as yours?
