I think you were bidding, then when I placed my bid of £206 in the last 10 seconds you were like "It can only be one person"

Or BJB540 told you.

Hah I checked car parts first, but nothing ended at that price, nor near that time :)

Thanks. See I went on a website for transport costs and a rough estimate because I don't know exactly where the car is would be £96 to transport the car on the back of a transporter, which, considering that temp-cover is £56 for the day and my mate'll want fuel and time money that price isn't bad at all. But I can't then test-drive the car or use it to take its own pieces to the tip. I say test drive but of course the auction is finished and it's mine no matter what. And then there's money and paper-work ect. So I think it's better to go down there in person.

So, news is that a relative is able to take me to get the car tomorrow night. Things are coming together now.

  • Author

Car is now insured, lift to puck it up is booked and money is going to be collected from the boss this afternoon. Things are looking good.

£55 for 24 hours insurance off Temp-cover, policy starts at 18:55 so I'll be able to take it to work with me tomorrow to.

Shame I won't get to take it to the tip but oh well, doesn't matter.

So what is the plan for it then? I'm still somewhat confused.

This is the Odd thing, Temp Insurance Cover to cover you as you become the Keeper, or the Present Keeper is still the Keeper.

But the VED is no longer valid as you become the Registered Keeper.

So without VED you really need to be driving to a Pre Booked MOT Station.

It is just as well the DfT / DVSA, DVLA & the Police do not have an idea what applies when.

Stripped out cheap track toy so next time we go head first into a tyre wall it doesn't matter so much.

Sorry officer me no understand, me nospeakey ingulish. It's only a few miles though and it'll be closer to an MOT station than it was before. I also accidentally drove my old Fabia for a couple of weeks with no tax because we changed it over from my dads name to mine. But what else are you supposed to do with it? I can't tax it anyway.

Eggataly,

odd set up the UK Government came up with for Vehicle Excise Duty.  Made no sense in practice or in the Laws of England / Wales.

Scotland or Northern Ireland.

Why the EU is always trying to get the UK to fall into line, but then different EU Countries never have all one system.

Well I hope "we" doesn't mean "us"   ;)

The tax change is a pain in the proverbial.

Our daughter has been "keeping" my wife's old Pug 206 since October, full insurance and all that, but we left the V5 transfer until Christmas day.

When the new V5 (dated 25th December) arrived around 5th January a leaflet said the old tax was cancelled from 1st December - and we got a refund confirming that - so we had the clunky situation of, in effect, daughter's driving suddenly being illegal from 1st Decenber until we paid the back tax.

Go figure the sense in that.

105bhp diesel Octavia with 200k as a track car?!

Surprised there weren't any better options on a tight budget, like a Puma or something.
