Utterly confused about official servicing info

Featured Replies

We have a 1.2tsi Rapid and it's now due it's 12month service. My wife rang the local dealership this morning (not the one we bought it from if that matters) and was quoted £189 and that it would be the 2nd service. This has really confused me.

a) Why is it the 2nd service? The car is 12 months old and has done ~4500 miles. The lady my wife spoke to said the 1st service is the pre-delivery service, but the Skoda website says "1st Service – for ŠKODA’s 12 months / 10,000 miles "

B) Why is it £189? The Skoda website here (http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/simply-fixed/pages/default.aspx) says a minor service is £139. However, if you try to book a service online when you select the dealer and then look at the servicing options a 1st service is £149 and a 2nd service is £199.

They also said we could order a service book via the parts store but I thought they didn't make those any more?

As i say, thoroughly confused.

10 out of 10 for effort goes to that Skoda dealership!

Edit:- so you tried using the on-line booking?  I've tried that a few times when booking my Audi S4 in, every time I end up with "error in send - contact your local dealer by phone!" - while being on hold on the phone to dealer, as well as many other amazing bits of useful info, the recorded message included "why don't you try our on-line booking system which includes pit stop style booking times for all standard tasks" - what a load of losers!   So, they offered me a timed slot for an MOT, 11:00, when I dropped the car off I was asked "when do you want the car back?" - without saying anytime nasty, as I assumed I was booked in at 11:00 for an MOT, so that means car back washed and valeted by 12:30/13:00, I said "ASAP!".  When I returned before being contacted by phone to day the car was ready, at 14:00, all I got was "car is in for an MOT" - it turned up 30 minutes later, MOT not carried out by Audi specialists - but a "fleet services place" which are nearby. Now in this case you could argue that an MOT is an MOT - but up to this point, Audi's blurb was telling me to be smart and deal with them for everything as their staff are all Audi trained - strange that!
