Windscreen Condensation

Featured Replies

This morning the windscreen needed scraping so started car, set to blower to windscreen, got out and scraped the outside clean, got in and external temp reads 2.5ºC, however the inside of my windscreen was sopping wet, wiping with chammy sponge left droplets all over the glass and the sponge soaking. I can't think of any obvious reason for this, is anyone else experiencing the same? I have the aircon profile set to low and left on auto all the time. This is the worst instance but thinking back I've had frost on the inside of the windscreen previously and other instances of heavy condensation but not as bad.

Its that time of year for condensation.

Sounds like you're doing everything right, I also run with climate on auto, and don't have any condensation.

Maybe if your car is parked in the sun, its steaming up and then freezes. Or lots of short journeys it doesnt really get warm or dry out.

Only other thing to check for is a leak, feel under the floor mats and boot floor for damp/wet patches.

Never wipe the inside of the windscreen, it'll now mist up even more than before.

Those dirty chamois cloths kept in cars simply add and smear the muck and grease over the windscreen.

Skoda's have a bit of a reputation for being damp.

A wet dog, wet passengers, wet carpet mats, a wet coat in the boot will all contribute.

Check the carpet under the floor mats to check for leaks around the windscreen and door seals.

Check for this too...

get a 2 big socks, half fill one with cat litter and tie off, put it in the other and tis it off, place under your seat. Should solve your issue in about a week

We have huge (bag of sugar size) desiccant bags at work that come with new parts that are shipped in. I always keep a few under my front seats and it really does help to keep the car condensation free

I have the aircon profile set to low

This probably doesn't help.

As above, set the air-con profile to normal or strong .......

It's actually mentioned in VW handbooks
