New Yeti Models?

Featured Replies

I just ordered a new Yeti (my second) and received an email from Skoda UK to thank me for the order with web links to a page called 'Building your Skoda'.  Some interest information on the various factories.  Within that page was a list of Skoda models, namely: http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/yeti-edition/ The Yeti Edition and the Yeti Joy http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/models/yeti-joy

Any one got any idea what these are.  I assume not for the UK market?

Not a "range" I've heard of.

There's a report today in Drive.com.au about a Polo based crossover SUV in 2018....(to compete on price with the Mazda CX3 type competitors)

Alongside the T-Roc will be the larger T-Cross with similarly looks.post-114489-0-52234700-1454029492_thumb.jpeg

These 2 models do not appear to have anything additional compared to the regular outdoor and urban models. They just have the badge "joy" or "edition". Weird![emoji15]

These appear on the German Skoda website.  See http://www.skoda-auto.de/models/yeti-joy/yeti_joy/

Do you have evidence of that?

A couple of useful articles - the SUVland article says that they've made up the pictures (just as well - they've lost some doors), have no information about the interior and don't know what engines will be offered whereas AutoExpress say it won't look like their "previously exclusive image" (begging the question as to why they bother publishing it again). Whilst Pictishloon may not have made it up, the journalist probably did!

If she hadn't left the fold I'd have said this was all MarieK's doing, some inventive Photoshopping whilst in Bob's Corner with more than a wee dram in her hand!!.

No,John, but it might have been useful putting the links with your posting.

TBH, the link from SUVLand is very speculative, and as for the photoshop rendition..................

The AutoExpress article has been posted here in the past and is typical of their "coverage", and similar to the above link.

Skoda seem to be very good in keeping their new models well hidden and secret, but do seem to start releasing "tasters" to the press shortly before they actually release the model. It is all too easy nowadays to "knock-up" a quick photoshop rendition; some of us enjoy working out what bits of what they have used.

I quote from that AutoExpress article:

"....Although the current car has helped Skoda achieve record sales, its utilitarian looks have always divided opinion,...."

What a dreadful quandary for Škoda - record sales by a car that seriously divided potential customers.  D'you think anyone there has noticed that the 'record' was achieved by selling only to those who like it?

Perhaps someone should remind them that the Landie and the Beetle, in their time, both divided opinion, yet both achieved decades of sales - presumably to customers who (wait for it).....

liked them.

At least for me, having bought a new Yeti (my first) during the latter part of last year, the new models should be appearing in 2 to 3 years time so I'll maybe looking to change then.

Or as mine will still be relatively young and I'm not doing that many miles nowadays then I might keep it. Certainly long enough to see if there are any teething problems with the new models.

Actually change the "if there are any" to "what the" given VWG's track record in recent years!

I take your point Llanigraham. In future, i shall make sure that I include any links with my posts. Sorry!

John.

The auto mag section of our newsagencies is crammed with scores (almost hundreds) of competing ones in the digital age and they'll do what it takes to survive and grab your money.

To me there's not much reality with Photoshopping.......lots of speculation though.

The Joy edition is also available in Luxembourg/Belgian market. For the same specs they are around 14% cheaper than the standard ones. And they also have seats with alcantara on the sides. But they are not even on their website. I discovered only when I got to the dealer ready to order my configuration.

The dealer told me that a new, larger model will be presented by 2017 but he doesn't know if it will replace the current Yeti or not.

Here is the 2015 version of the speculation. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/spy-shots/skoda/skoda-readies-four-new-suvs-why-the-czechs-are-going-crossover-crazy/

FWIW I don't reckon there is a space for a Yeti XL, Yeti *and* a Juke-sized Skoda Yeti. As near as damn the Yeti and Juke are in the same roadspace / market. Except one appeals to those with poor taste :)

You need a sense of humour to drive a Nissan Joke, apparently.

It's nice to be able to actually recognise a car immediately.

It takes some doing to design one these days as they all seem to morph into white goods.

Bearing in mind the number of posts on this forum about whether or not the 1.2 TSI has sufficient power I thought this from the article Ryeman posted is interesting "Two variants have been approved – a two-wheel drive and a four-wheel drive – both powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105kW of power, mated with a six-speed manual gearbox". So the same power as the smallest Yeti engine (in the Classic anyway) but from an engine a 25% bigger capacity and (at least in theory) of some 5 or 6 years newer design.

Duck!

He's learnt how to link!
