AutoWindscreens Avoid

Featured Replies

Unfortunately had the dis-pleasure of using these outfitters to replace a windscreen.. had to wait 3 weeks for an appointment (after paying my XS first) so was unable to cancel and use another supplier...

then the clowns fit the windscreen and scratchboth my A pillars in the process.!!. as well as not fitting the screen properly as there is now a prominent lip between the roof and the top of the screen. As well as this the carpass/id holder in the A pillar will not touch the windscreen so is pretty much useless now!

Not a Happy Chappy!!

awaiting refit..and repair!..

so, If you get the option... and having read their facebook page..seems I am not the only unhappy customer!

avoid at all Costs!

Sod that you want refit, repair to all the damage and you want compensation

Had same going on myself, took 3 weeks to fit a screen,a few years ago they put a screen in my cosworth and cut a chunk out of my dashboard :(

It's been nearly a week since they came to inspect the damage and do the report and still not heard anything from them. I think a call to the insurers tomorrow will be on the cards to make them aware... And do the chasing !

I never did any pre walk around or signed anything beforehand.. And like the link above, the guy couldn't wait to hand me they keys.. Literally chucking them at me and said not to drive it for an hour.. Wasn't until after he had gone did I see the damage.. Only to sign his pda saying he had changed the screen...if he'd have said look mate I've scratched it and admitted it, I wouldn't be as bothered, but the dishonesty and lack of moral fibre has p155ed me off !

Sound almost identical to what happened to me using National Windscreens. Another one to avoid!

Spoke to Insurance, who basically said it was for them (AutoWindscreens) to sort..so they put me through to them..passed from pillar to post..only to be told it had been escalated to a priority 1 and somebody would call me back..but no idea when!..absolute joke..that was 2 days ago and still no further forward.. or callback..I will give it until tomorrow before I demand that the insurance sort it out..and they can have the hassle and inconvenience in claiming it from them !!

**Update**

Managed to get through and past the dreaded call centre...

They are coming.. (*yet to be booked) to refit / replace the glass first.....

then they will arrange for the bodywork to be fixed.. by chipsaway ?..or some other I'd not heard of before they mentioned it... - opinions??..or should I push for a local body shop / spray shop?.. and they will obviously foot the bill...

(They first asked had I heard of t cut!..told them politely I wouldnt put it anywhere near my car and that it was down to the primer so needed to be sprayed!)

AutoWindscreens have now informed me that ChipsAway cannot deal with the small dent in the A pillar so they said they would allow it to go through my insurers..

They have now called this morning to say they are going to use a company called FARG... I didn't quite catch the name but a quick Google suggests its this company...

http://www.farg.co.uk/

I've never heard of them but my concern is that they are not an insurance approved repairer, but some sort of fleet management repair place and do not know the quality of  their work..although it suggests its fully guaranteed etc..

They also said the repair needs to be done first before the screen is sorted which I'm not too confident about considering what happened last time but it will be done at the repair centre!

I've also requested a Hire car while the car is away.. and I will be expecting my windscreen excess to be paid back to me.

I took two days off work due to these incompetent ****s bringing wrong windscreens, mate had same issue. Bought a Corsa screen to fit his combo
