Flat tyre!

Featured Replies

Today I was cruising at legal speeds on the highway when, all at a sudden, I heard a "bong" informing me I had a tyre pressure issue on my rear right tyre.

Of course I kept going on for the few miles I had before reaching my destination, and I even tried to reset it while travelling since I was pretty sure it was a sensor issue... at least until I parked and realised that the tyre was completely flat.

So, lesson learned today:

- the TPS on the octy is pretty trustable and I'm surely going to consider with more respect

- don't know if the awd contributed, but the octy is really very stable since she was able to travel with a completely flat tyre (ok, it was a rear one)

BTW the local garage showed me an one inch awful cut in the middle of the tyre, really can't figure out what the hell caused it, but I'm pretty sure I have to "thank" my national highways...

I really do trust the TPS. I had a new front tire last week. TPS went off after 2 days so I took it back assuming it hadn't seated properly. Another nail! Tyre repaired and saved. If it shouts it really means it!

Yes, definitely works - can be sensitive to big changes in temperature/altitude/driving style depending on where/when you reset the pressures and sensor - so i've had a few false alarms but more successful discoveries of nails in tyres.

And you can't reset it without stopping and turning ignition off (i found at least), makes sense i guess.

Completely agree. Works a treat. Had it on the way home recently and got out to find the tyre looking fine. So drove home and overnight the tyre went flat. Will definitely trust in future.

Mine let's you reset it any time; driving, stopped, engine on or off doesn't matter..

Tnx nice to know!

Had exactly the same thing last November on the M5 at 70mph.  Always better to check than assume it is a rogue message!
