Stage 1 I heard is 18-20 psi, are you sure that apps turbo pressure or absolute pressure (take 1 bar off?) as those levels of boost seem to high for those mods

A second thought could be that if those boost levels are what the ecu is being told by the map sensor but maybe they are not right (as thats more like stage 2 I think) the ecu will cut boost if the maf and air temp and knock sensors are not in line with the map sensor! Id say for sure you dont have a leak if those boost levels are right, you need the upgrades that boost needs, fuel reg 4 bar, bigger intercooler, large tip, bam fuel pump and injectors possibly.

Get your gauge in to confirm your apps data first

OK real figures Ken!! boost about 19-20 psi .... peaks at 23 psi .... as you head to high revs at the limiter about 14.5 psi....

as this is seemingly right, maybe I haven't got a boost leak, just a so-so map ?

order of the day stays as follows, I will leave all alone now, until I can fit a FMIC, then I am going to have it mapped again, going to go to r-tech with it.

Thats stage 1 then mate, I done alot of reading so I can get my r tech stage 2 map done right first time as I hear the guy dont suffer fools wasting dyno time.

My car does similar stuff on boost but i no my hard pipe is damaged were the rubber pipe clips in having thought it was the rubber hose, changed it, got all happy and test drive said no but im waiting now til I fit my front mount. Id def recommend a smoke test tho if you not done one yet

That's "stage 1" figures for definite mate, told you it's easy fitting the boost gauge lol, wate till you have all supporting mods on then get it mapped again, that's my plan with my vrs ;)

been out for a blast in the nice weather today, car seems to be running really well :) I have yet to put it up against something/someone I know, to see how it compares to my fabia vRS , but on one of my well known roads, I come off a roundabout on full throttle up to a corner, that I need to brake for, and could always hit xx mph in the fabia before braking..... managed that speed and more in the octy today! :o is it quicker than my fabia vRS ? I will be pleasantly suprised if it is :) certainly felt good today :) getting used to the car more now, getting used to the weight.... always takes me a few thousand miles to get to know a car , find the limits etc....

If I can sort whatever is wrong with the front suspension, (and get rid of the rainsports) I may even try a track day later this year ... I will be going to the ring in Sept anyway :) was gonna sit out laps this year, lets see how well I can develop the car :)

bonus time : SO warm today, that with the climate set to 18C it went into cooling mode rather than warming mode, very happy to report the air con works properly! cold air :o .. Happy days! (for now lol)

Happy days!!!!!

Good news on the progress and work sofar looks to be a nice car!

well , started my new job today, which requires a 60 mile commute! (30 each way) ....... so... I set my average mpg computer....

40 mpg on the way there, not bad, 46.7 mpg on the way back! thats as good as my old fabia vRS :) (speed limits adhered to)

It can therefore work as my commute car :) I wanted at least 40 mpg..... happy days!

I'd be well happy with anything 30+

my commute is nearly all A-roads, so sitting 40-70 mph in 5th makes it ideal really....

Looking good mate.

Whats your plan for a 'ring trip this year? Message me on FB if easier [emoji5]

shouldn't have said I would commute in tit! got in it this morning, and it wouldn't start, loads of power, and cranking of the engine! not even a click!

took the Abarth as Ash wasn't at work, and set her on fixing it, she got in, it started fine, she took it to the tame mech, he said he could find nothing wrong with it, she went shopping in it etc ....

*sigh. worked perfectly all day! anyone know if there is some way to diable start ? something I sleepily may have done wrong?! lol..... it was almost like trying to start an auto in "D" .....

anyway, came home and tried it, all still working properly ...

Dave, if you want to borrow a vcds cable I can lend you mine for a bit.

thanks man :) my tame mech can scan though, and doesn't charge for it ... don't think he did this time though, as swmbo just "dropped by" and everything was working.... If it happens again, I'll get it scanned :)

nice to know you are still around though mate!

So , gave the car a check over today, as Its done a couple of hundred miles this week, and is off to the west midlands meet on Saturday ......

oil had dropped from top of hatch to half way down.... topped it up, didn't take much to get back to the top, maybe about 200 ml ....

so used a little bit (less than my fabia vRS) much have done about 3,000 miles in that time since I have owned the car ...

not bad, seems ok to me... what does anyone elses octy mark i use?

40 MPG?!? If my mk3 TSI DSG achieves over 30 MPG I'll have a song and a dance. I thought technology was moving forward too.

Always had a soft spot for MK1's, older cars seem to have a character. Nice Octy Dave.

Thanks, so have I , always said I'd own one , one day , and its funny, we gave it a clean today , before heading to the west midlands meet tomorrow, went out for lunch... parked in a car park... on the way back, sitting there clean in the sun... it didn't look like an old car (its 15 this year!) it still looks quite fresh, doesn't seem to have aged badly like some cars do (even the mark II octy!)

The Mk 1s are a good design, seam to have aged well. Not quite so much the estates, but definitely the hatch.

done my first big motorway trip this weekend down to the west midlands meet! 500 faultless miles! performed well , (very stable at high speed, not that I drove at high speed at all :P )really can't complain! tried to catch Pete on the way back to Gillys, but even though daddy phantom is fast , its not really fast when compared to the current Golf R ! lol.... fun anyway ;)

also nice to have another mark I octy there Andy! Had a little drive of his, decided I need a diff lol....
