Excellent. I'm glad you're happier with it now. They really are good cars.

What's next?

In other news, I bet you're glad we didn't die at combe, cos when I took the brakes off, it was metal on metal both sides. Still amazed it managed to stop at all. Made a horrible noise all the way home even driving in a straight line under power.

Oops.

lol... yeah it was definatley metal against metal! I enjoyed the ride Jonathan! ,appreciate it! nice to know what one of these can do on the track :)

now all the basic stuff is sorted , next will be a RARB I think.... best bang for buck mod!

then FMIC and new map to stage 2 :)

I will be on track with it when the situation presents itself!

Where did you get the tyres from and how much?

How are they in the rain/standing water?

How are they in the rain/standing water?

I got these from Petes car that he was braking , so paid £25 each for them....

new they are approx £73 each for 225/45/17, and come with decent tread (about 6mm I think!) on wet roads they are as good as any mid range tyre, you don't really want to "cut" any deep water with them though, but this normally isn't a problem in normal rain , anyone who goes through puddles at speed is asking for trouble anyway... in the dry they are awesome. They don't like the cold either, work better when warm. They are a noisy tyre, but i don't care given the grip/price ....

been out to waswater today :)

Right a day of "car stuff" :) firstly new wipers, the ones that were on were rubbish, and I hate all the little OCD things..... proper working wipers is a must!!

one of my cats insisted on "helping" , he may get to the pedals, but he cant see from there! lol...

IMG_1619.jpg

I bought 2 new cameras seeing as my other have basically given up the goat..... this is my front camera... a makeshift attempt with an iphone 3 and an app.... app is actually brilliant, iphone 3 camera leaves a lot to be desired, not up to modern HD stuff, and its clumsy and messy ...... has to go!!

IMG_1610.jpg

new camera is miles better, sit up with the mirrors out the way... wiring hidden into the trim :)

IMG_1615.jpg

catcam..... er I mean old rear camera... cheap Chinese **** that basically has pretty lights but doesn't work AT ALL.... don't but the £14 ones, they are ****e......

IMG_1611.jpg

new one much better, may get a sticker for the back... in my old car, people were so much nicer when they knew there was a camera pointed at them....

IMG_1623.jpg

just need to get some vids of all the idiots now! lol... (or get an a track and use them properly!!!!!!)

Shouldn't that " CAT " be on the exhaust Dave ?

been doing some more work on the car..... time to fix this broken wing mirror....

IMG_1645.jpg

got a new wing mirror casing, just got to spray it the right colour...

IMG_1646.jpg

broke the bloody glass dismantling the mirror :( got some new heated glass coming!

IMG_1648.jpg

oil was black and smelly, even though its only been in about 10k.... so did an oil change, swapped the plugs too for NGK 7's.... new oil filter...

IMG_1653.jpg

even though this was MILES down my list, I have gotten fed up with the crappy 15 y/o "stereo" , especially as our Abarth has the optional "sound system" that sound fookin awesome.... makes mine positively pale by comparison....

IMG_1649.jpg

I spent all of £15 on flea bay for a streaming head unit, and bought a 32 gig SD card.... loaded an astonishing 3,500 tracks to the card! :o added my phone, I can stream the 3 gig of music I have on there too! (or use the web for absolute radio!) with the added bonus of hands free talking, and phone charging through the USB port too.... radio works... it sounds surprisingly good too! :o all for £15!!!!! can't get my breath..... I did have to do an "Edd China" - 'you just have to be patient and take your time' bit to splice all the bloody wires together though as the head unit didn't have the standard fitting!

IMG_1654.jpg

all good for now! should be happy with its fresh oil and plugs for the summer , and our ring trip! May check out the "performance" air filter before then too... lol... music is sorted...

all good for now with his "summer refresh" :)

What sort of a person buys giant 18" wheels for his winter tyres/wheel combination?!

IMG_1793.jpg

that would be me then! lol.... think they will look nice :)

IMG_1794.jpg

Look like an A8 style wheel, but replica given they look multi-fitment?

Spotted you'd picked up the winter rubber from Simon

yes..... its an audi "style" wheel from an aftermarket manufacturer..... got the 4 almost new tyres from Simon, picking them up today... wheels and tyres together less money than 4 new tyres for the winter (runs track rubber in the summer) its the offer on the tyres that made the choice to look for some cheap 18's , these were £70 , so not a bad purchess :)

Sounds good - just hope they don't weigh a ton and aren't made of cheese.... ;)

  • Author

they are quite light! I have been assured they are straight and not cracked and balance up well..... just have to wait and see on that! lol... only for winter though, so wont be stressed on track or anything!
