Top-up Oil Supplied With Car

Featured Replies

Hi All,

When my 2.0TSI was delivered, it had a bottle of Havoline 5W-30 Ultra-V, which is VW 504 Approved, however, the filler cap on the engine says Castrol Recommended.

What brand of oil came with yours?

Does anybody know what was put in at the factory? I would have assumed Castrol if that's what the cap says?

Thanks,

Dave

The actual brand of oil used at the factory is probably like the brand of tyres fitted: whatever they could get several thousand units of cheapest in that build week.

Similarly the top up oil (and what's in the dealer's bulk tank) will be whatever was cheapest for that accounting period.

the oil brand is irrelevant, as long as it is complies with the vw specification for your car

Hey ! Mine didn't come with any top up oil ! Have I missed out on something here ?

I didnt get any oil either, must be a dealer specific thing...

I guess it is down to the dealer, then?

I dunno. My Octavia had it but then my superb, from the same dealer 2 years later, didn't.

My 1.4 TSI came with shell helix ultra in a bag with Velcro to make it stick inside the emergency area in the boot

Least you have your car! I'll swap a litre of oil for your 280 ;p

Mine came with a bottle of oil in a bag attached to the back of the back seats with Velcro. think its Havoline but not really taken much notice..

Does this imply the petrol engines have an 'oil habit'?

Mines coming up on 2k and not used a drop yet.

Mine came with a bag with oil and screen wash in it plus a gift box from the dealer containing........more oil, a thermos mug, several dealer key rings, a trolley token keyring, an ice scraper and a book of vouchers for discounts of accessories and services. Including a £100 accessories voucher if I recommend someone to the dealer who buys a car. which I have.

I have just realised I've hit 3k and haven't checked the oil though. Lucky I've got two litres!

504 for petrols on longlife, 507 for diesels.

No it implies your car was supplied by one of the better dealers!

Not sure what mine is but it came in the velcro pouch.
