Does Sheffield have the worst road surfaces in England?

Featured Replies

Just returned from a week in Sheffield, the potholes are almost like mine-shafts.  I will probably need new rims and tyres all round.

I can understand that the council wants to save money and reduce speeding but I am certain that they would be better advised to install loads of Gatsos and use the revenue earned to sort out the roads.

Short answer. Yes.

Thsyre horrific.

I go there every weekend. Roads are a pita.

I occasional visit Sheffield as my daughter lives there. Yes, the condition of the roads is atrocious. Even worse than Gloucestershire and I didn't think that was possible.

I don't think it's Sheffield. It's the whole of Yorkshire. Motorway included. Just horrible.

Not potholes, negative contour speed bumps.  Require no installation and far less maintenance  :dull:

Yes it's bad and getting worse every day .... To be honest I think the roads in Sheffield have reached critical mass..... I think they are so bad now and will require such a large sum spending to fix them that they will just not be fixed ...

Yet they have/are surfacing all the pavements.

Glad it's not just me that thinks this.

My Superb, lowered on 19's was a nightmare on some of our roads... One of the reasons my current car will not be getting bigger alloys, even though it's crying out for them looks wise.

My missus is a driving instructor, and when her last car went back with 35K on clock, the suspension was ruined thanks to the roads around us.

The council spent a lot on certain roads, in preparation for the Tour De Yorkshire, and they are lovely to drive on, but a lot of the others are simply a disgrace!

Try Tandridge, Surrey....

Love paying road tax too

I know yeah.

Just paid another £110 to have my car bashed about going over bottomless pits for another year.

Yay.

Don't know what the roads are like in Sheffield but if you want to drive/walk on bad roads/pavements come and visit Glasgow.
