Rear wipe when selecting reverse

Featured Replies

My wife has a Citigo which I've driven a few times and when you select reverse, you get one wipe of the rear window.  It's quite useful.

The Octavia doesn't seem to do it.  I have automatic rear wipe selected in the menus, but this is an intermittent rear wipe when the front wipers are in low continuous or high continuous.

Have I missed something?

thanks

I'm sure the front wipers have to be on and then when reverse is selected, you will get the rear wiper to wipe. Correct me if I'm wrong people!

If car has a light rain sensor I dont think it wipes the rear screen unless the sensor has been activated..or the wipers are put on manually (i.e on one of the other stalk settings bar the 1st auto/intermittent setting)

Front wipers need to be moving for the rear to wipe in reverse

... or have done an intermittent wipe in the last 10 seconds or so

The problem I find is that the rain sensing wipers don't kick in unless you either turn them off and on again, or adjust the sensitivity.

I tend to do a flick wipe of the front screen and then select reverse, the rear wiper comes on then

At first startup they don't come on until your moving above 10mph ish. It's I think to stop you starting the car and the wipers try to move when there frozen to the screen

Exactly, I was describing a workaround to kick them in to life so that your rear wiper came on
