Seat memory not working

Recommended Posts

Hi all, new to the forum. Got 4 month old Superb, was demo car for the dealer. Noticed seat memory is not working. I can adjust the seat in all directions just well but when I try to save the position, nothing happens. Followed procedure to the letter. Put ignition on, adjust the seat, press SET and then within 10 secs press desired memory location. A bong should be heard but nothing happens on mine. When I want to recall the position also nothing happens (I hold the button to recall).

Anyone had simillar problems or am I doing something wrong? It is worth mentioning I have KESSY, does that changes anything?

Also, the option for storing the seat position in key is disabled in Car->Seats screen and cannot be enabled (ignores me pressing it).

Thanks a lot for your help!

Mine has the same problem stopped working after 2 days.

Dealer says it's a glitch in the software which throws up an error code which can't be cleared.

Skoda are working on a update for the software but its not ready yet they will let me know when it's available.

Have been waiting for 2 weeks so hopefully not much longer.

I was suspecting it might be a software problem. Do you think the update will be available for self installation or it will be something dealer has to do? In any case, can you please reply to this topic once dealer calls you about the update so I can follow up with it with my dealer?

In desperate move I found a fuse for seat control unit and removed it in hope it will restart. No help :)

Visited my dealer today, they applied a software update and solved the problem. Park, you might check with your own dealer, it seems the update is already available.

Thanks all for your inputs about this, really appriciate it. It's nice to know there is a place where I can go, ask a question and get helpful answers from very helpful people!

Got the same issue today after visiting the car wash - they seem to have moved the driver seat forward to the stop which might have triggered it. Can you please confirm that it is just a quick fix at the dealer's? I'm travelling to the mainland Europe on Friday and plan to turn up to Ridgeway Skoda in Reading tomorrow to get this fixed.

I had the same problem when cleaning my car. When moving the seat all the way forward it stops. I double checked it was all the way forward by moving the switch again and it moves half an inch and subsequently wiped my memory settings and wouldn't store them again.

I moved the seat all the way back, then all the way forward again and it reset. I was then able to store them again.

Following your advice, I moved the seat all the way back, then the car produced two "bong"-type beeps and voila, seat memory is now working!

Thank you!

Do u do this with the car on, or just ignition on?

I have the same issue now with my seats not storing preset positions.

VCDS is showing "Unknown Error Code" in Address 36: Seat Mem. Drvr (J810).

I sold my superb almost two years ago so can’t remember exactly how but if memory serves me right I moved the seat all the way back then all the way forward, got two beeps and it had reset. I did it with the ignition off (I think).

Thanks.

Sadly it didn't do the trick for me, with or without ignition, or car engine running. 😞

The car is due for a service next month - I'll just get them to check it out and fix accordingly.

Update: same guy cleaned my car the other day and it happened again. This was after a “seat software upgrade” done by the dealers.

Ignition/engine/everything OFF, moved seat all the way back then forward, heard a bong and then it’s al sorted again.

@JR RS - it clears your seat memory so you have to set up and save positions again. Doing the above will allow you to ‘re-save’ positions. If you don’t do the above, the memory buttons won’t work at all so you can’t save any positions

👍

Thanks.

I'll try it again, but the last time I tried - it didn't "bong", as a signal that it has reset.

Hi all, I am clutching at straws here as I dont want to take my car into a dealers for a £54 software upgrade.  I have just bought my car, A Superb L&K which is 3yrs 2 months old so just out of warranty.  I bought it with a garage supplied warranty which isnt worth the paper its written on.

I have the same problem as above, my drivers seat moves OK but wont store positions.  I have tried all of the manouvres above to no avail.  Is there any way I can upgrade the software or am I going to have to bite the bullet and take it in?  My worry is that they will find its more than just the software and I will have paid for nothing!

Cheers!

i don't think u can do the software upgrade urself - u'll need specialist tools (software) for that.

in my case, the dealer flashed my seat controller module first, and it was still no good.

so they ended up replacing the seat module under the seat.

Old Seat Controller Module = 5Q0 959 760 B, Component: H08 0021

New Seat Controller Module = 5Q0 959 760 C, Component: H09 0024
