Would have fitted the clutch and flywheel too had I remembered to put it in the car.

Not bad for a day's work.

Reckon I could've probably achieved that in a week. :D

As a side note my car is a 2003 with ABS and had a speed sensor in the gearbox (not a dummy).

Be interesting to see if my speedo works or if I can adapt my dash to use the ABS signal.

Guess there's no sensor on the box that's just gone in?

  • Author

I could swap the sensor, it has a dummy one in it but the wiring for it is part on the engine harness on the 1.4.

Ah, that's good; so you can hardwire the sensor output up to the clocks if it can't be made to play nicely with just ABS speed input. :)

Moved along with this very quick!! Looks awesome! Good job ross

This almost makes me want to buy a saloon. Absolutely awesome this, those wheel trims seem to work so well for it too

Looking good! I wish I was as capable as you are in the car department, I can't believe how quickly you seem to work.

It's taken me all day today near enough to delete the egr and remove the egr cooler on my BKD Octavia! Lol

Just the one photo from this morning.

Pretty much there tbh. Just waiting on the ECU. That and decided to pressure test the cooling system and the heater matrix pipes are leaking where they go into the car. This connection is a known ball ache. I fitted new pipes and seals too when the engine was out and double checked the seals hadn't pinched but looks like they have. Balls. The 1.4 connection is actually a lot better than the 1.8 so might look at adapting that. Not a great deal of room due to the turbo though.

Oh well, it will get sorted in the end.

That's why I bypassed mine lol, such a stupid design, you can chop the original Fabia one down and add some 90degree silicone hose off it, but like you say it's very tight, close to the actuator

I have the 1.4 MPI metal connection that takes rubber hoses, then some universal 90deg bends. As you say though, very little room. I was worried that the actuator would rub on them but fingers crossed its been good for 14k or what ever I'm up to now :)

Exactly what I had in mind. Wish I hadn't forked out £45 for the genuine pipes now, cest la vie.

No, left my original on there with all of the original pipes.

Can you adapt the connectors then, as mine was completely different, from pre facelift Fabia, to facelift Ibiza

Mine was exactly the same. 03 chassis Fabia and 04 chassis Ibiza.
