Maybe not the right link but better than the looped one! ;-)

Looks like you've managed to get the link in a loop. I'll sort it for you when I get back home.

Ohhh yes thanks.

An impressive feat of cheeky******ness I must say. If it's anything like most* Chinese motorbikes - don't even think about buying one!

*Yeah.... I appreciate not all any more.

Nope, there's no plagiarism at all. The Chinese government said so.

Possibly built from materials that came from recycling of Tata vehicles, which were built from recycled vehicles,

so what goes around comes around.

I see they copied a Vauxhall Frontera too, why if you were going to all the efforts of copying a car would you copy that :D

Oooo in fieve yeeers you awl be droiving choy neez cahs

About 4.5 yrs ago??

At £14,000 you could buy three X7's for one Evoque at £40,000.

Is the Land Rover three times better than the Land Wind?

I don't think the quality will be as bad as we might fear, given that Land Wind (Changan Auto) also build cars destined for the Chinese market for the likes of Ford, Peugeot Citroen (PSA) and Suzuki.

Probably do a better job than they do at Halewood anyhow.

And I bet you can get/or will soon get repro Evoque badges.

Asians are into status big time, so the fakes will be seen for being just that and Evoque driver will have their noses higher still.

They build the Evoque in China anyhow.

If it crashes anything like this:

Then yes it will be worth 3 times as much!

The original Vauxhall Frontera was equally as poor in the crash tests, but then the design is older than me so it was to be expected.

If you copy rubbish then ultimately you'll end up with rubbish.

If the X7 is indeed a close copy of the Evoque then hopefully it will be pretty good.

When you build cars for other mainstream manufacturers there is a lot to be learnt perhaps...

Showed the missus a pic of both an x7 and an evoque. Said one of them had a "posh spice" influence on the design, which was it.. the pics were distant enough to not be able to see the badges etc. She picked the right one, but wasnt really sure.. based the hunch on " the amount of grill on show" on x7.

If its going to be put on sale over this side of the world, wont it have to meet min standards anyway??

^^^^absolutely

The Chinese aren't stupid, they know what will be required to be both legal and survive the press savaging if they aren't fully competitive.

It's the Japanese then Korean experience again - derision > acceptance > preference (in time).

Europe and the U.S. have to keep on reinventing the wheel eg battery and fuel cell to continue to have a technical advantage.

I think those were built under licence from Isuzu.

As the old Frontera goes, rust aside, the ones that didn't have Vauxhall engines in weren't all that bad. The LWB wasn't the time or the place for the 1.8 petrol though.

Am I the only Chinese guy here? Have seen several Land Wind X7 here on the road. To be honest it dosen't look that bad and the rear end is better looking than Evoque IMHO.

Since the price is low, it is popular especially among those families that need a good looking car but cannot afford high prices.

I suspect you are the only one.

Welcome and tell us more about your vehicle choices (incl Haval which is a bit of a mystery also) and experiences.

Haha, thanks mate!

It's interesting that Chinese people's choices and taste on cars are quite different from that of the westerns. I think maybe I can post some Chinese cars' photos here for you guys to enjoy.

Maybe start a new thread as I'm sure a lot of people will be very interested.

Please do. I don't think we've had anyone from that part of the world on here before.

Are you a local, or have you moved to China?

Yes, that's what I am planning to do!
