The Vega+ will have 1,000 games onboard, like the original, and will be compatible with the thousands of abandonware titles that are freely available on the interweb. It will also be possible to connect the device to a telly making it a full successor to the original Vega, but again this will involve a cable.

I rather like this.

Will it play Lemmings?

...or Space Invaders with the Dum,dum, dum, dum sound effects.

They used to really freak SWMBO out. :o

Not going to be the same without the rubber keyboard!

Did you get lemmings for the speccy?

I remember it from the Amiga.

Amiga handheld would be epic.

If an amiga handheld came out id buy 2!

I'd feel obliged to buy one as the ZX Spectrum was my weapon of choice to pass my Computer Science O'Level and in turn was instrumental in my career path.

Of cause the added benefit of Jet set Willy, Spectipede, Starquake and not forgetting Elite (This one has stuck, Elite Dangerous these days) had no bearing at the time I convinced my dad it would be an asset to my education...

The Commodore 64 was better.

You lot obviously had more money than me! I was playing my Dad's Atari 2600 up until I got a PS1. I still play the same 2600 now though, long after the PS1 has gone...

I am very sure you can get an emulator for you mobile turning it into that very thing.

There's plenty of Android tablet retro gaming handhelds that emulate pretty much everything.

No doubt, but not the same..

That's what i was thinking. That or C64.

I've still got my Amiga boxed away with original box and Workbench discs in the loft.

You might find that the discs are a bit dodgy now -magnetic media doesn't like the heat/cold cycles that can occur in lofts.

The Commodore 64 was better.

aH, BUT (sir) Clive was a bit more honest- the 64 AFAIK referred to the total memory capacity, in fact 48K usable, whereas Sinclair sold as a 48K model as that what is was capable of running. Then again what was not commonly known was that on the 128k Speccy, IF both halves of the memory worked, the Speccy would have 256 k, but Sinclair bought bulk memory with one half faulty to (AFAIK) keep costs down.

I remember lemmings on the speccy,

I have one of these taking me back.

It comes with lots of games preloaded along with a Micro SD card slot to download LOTS more to and play.

Ditto

Complete with the 1MB VRAM mobo mod, the soldered on RAM chips replaced with faster ones, the SideKick RAM/HDD box, also modded with the original 20MB HDD replaced with a MASSIVE 200MB drive, and the 2MB of extra RAM installed. I still have the Panasonic dot matrix printer I got to use with it as well.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm tempted to get one even though I was a Commodore lad myself.... A couple of mates had Speccies though.

My journey went....

Computer Wise = Vic 20... 2x C64 (One original model and one facelift/slimline model)... BBC model B... Atari 1040 ST... then my first PC.

Console Wise = Atari 2600... Sega Megadrive... Sega Gamegear... Nintendo Gameboy... Nintendo DS... PS1... PS2... Xbox 360... Nintendo Wii... Xbox 360s... Xbox One.

And all except the first C64 are still in existence. :)

Will I be showing my age if I admit to seeing a room full of Sinclair ZX80s where I worked??

(How many of you even KNEW there was a model before the ZX81??)

What where they using them for?

You could buy them in a kit form and build yourself (like the Acorn Atom). I can remember the adverts in the Sunday glossies.

My first 'puter was a Tandy TRS-80 in (I think) 1979/1980.

Tried the retro gaming thing and, for me, it doesn't stack up any more. Far better left in the rose-tinted memories of my past.

The training centre were using them to teach industrial programming.

On one Jobcentre course, I attended, there was an additional module of computing etc which involved using Z80 machine code/ etc.
