If you use the empty slot then keep the fuses to a low amperage, I used 2X 2.5a fuses.

Jonro2009, again having trouble sourcing car stuff in Oban, do the fuses need to be 2.5 amp or can they be a higher amperage, or what would be the maximum I could use for the dash cam. Cheers the noo.

Use the lowest value you can obtain until you can source the correct value. The fuse provides the weakest link and should be replaced with the correct rating as soon as you can really. I have a 2 amp fuse in my camera circuit.

Should work with the engine on too shouldnt it? If you're worried about getting a flat battery.

It works with the ignition when it's live, so also when the engine is on. Unless you have read something I haven't.

Pleased you have got it sorted. The internal battery, if you have one, will be charged whilst driving. If you have a parking mode and you leave your camera installed, then it can record knocks that occur whilst parked up too. My battery only lasts for around 8 hours now though.
