Milestone achieved

Featured Replies

A 200 mile round trip (motorway miles) saw me reach the dizzy height of 51 mpg (2.0 TDI dsg estate). Pleased at last.

64 plate with 6000 miles.

I've done Newcastle to London, then London to Longleat and back and averaged 60.8 since fitting my DTUK box - well pleased. Trip up to Newcastle on the same road and conditions without the box only got me 52. Worth considering one if you've not been overly happy with economy (which I wasn't)

Wow, I could do that almost at a drop of the hat in my vrs. Admitedly, it was a manual not DSG.

No chance of doing that in my new car though :)

I was referring to dsg though not a manual.

Will consider the DTUK if I keep the car on but tbh I enjoy the slick shifts, keeps a hand free for a brew!

Wait until you get to around 15k, both my CR150 DSG O3's seemed to loosen up around then and gain a few extra mpg, plus feel more ready to rev :)

Edit - graph of the first 24k, you can see it is slowly getting better

Mine is also DSG

Do you have ACC? Keep the car in Eco and use ACC or even regular CC, you should easily get good mpg on motorway. I know I get low-mid 40s avg mpg on motorway when using ACC in my 1.4 TSI DSG. So expect you should easily get much higher with a TDI

I do use CC. The journey was the M6 onto the M1 to London and if you know the roads it's a mixture of heavy traffic a lot of congestion and speed management so probably to hit 51 was no bad considering it was nothing like any of VW fuel consumption simulations. But I agree using cruise helps.

was the graph something you updated manually or are you able to pull these stats from vagcom etc?

You might want to check what you put in the tank compared to the maxidot report since the the fitting of the DTUK box.

That seems an improvement that is almost too good to be true. Hope it is right though.

It is from fuelly

Yeah it's definitely overstated, but it was without the box too - by about 10%. There is definite improvement visually on the fuel guage in terms of consumption though, the car is definitely using less fuel.

I have noticed a reduction in fuel economy from swapping from my Blackline to our new MY16 Vrs Diesel. on average about 8-10mpg. Same driving characteristics both manual. In the blackline we were typically in 45-50mpg territory but on a long run it was near 60mpg. In this latest VRS we are more like 35-40mpg and on a long run 52mpg. Its very strange.

Don't think you're alone there - I'm not at all convinced on the efficiency of the new VAG diesels. My friend has an F30 320d and he hits high 50s as an average with no issues at all.

If your car is new however, it will improve as the miles go on. Mine is at 10k now and definitely was improving on its own, but not anywhere near what it should!

Thing is my Blacklines CR170 was like that out of the box! no run in required Clearly remember getting 58MPG on the drive home from Lincoln to Mansfield and I wasn't hanging around. The new one maybe because its EU6 Engine just doesn't seam economical.

Are we all talking 'dsg' here

I think the main reason it looks a little better is because in the warmer weather you get more mpg.

Didn't notice it was warmer in September & October than it was in July :)

Then it also proves that there are too many variables to conclude anything from that graph, other than some months you have more fun that others  :D

True, but if you look at this breakdown it makes more sense

Yea I see what your saying, would be interesting to see the figures after a few more years as well as the car gets older.

I have just started using Fuelly @ nearly 10K so it will be interesting too see what sort of mpg i'm getting compared to the maxidot

First few tankfuls were 45mpg, even on long runs, over time you notice the slight increases.

It is probably just the brake pads wearing :)
