Hello all...

Guess what? On the way to a hospital appointment the Octy decided to give up completely on us! Engine started juddering and vibrating harshly plus a burning smell...the check engine light was also flickering on and off. I called the car dealers I bought it from they collected the same day (towed it away). I called the Manager who finally agreed to a refund. I will not be getting the full amount suprise suprise but I don't really care at this stage.

I now need a new Octy with a max of

Can anyone help please.

Have you tried looking at the second hand stock on www.skoda.co.uk?

Might be an idea as theres plenty of Octy's on there.

Marlborough Skoda have a 2001 4X4 Hatch in green with 49100 miles at £7495.

I have just searched Auto Trader and there are 5 for sale in the price range £6999 to £7995 - 3 of which are at Skoda dealers.

Thanks guys for all the replies...

Dr Octavia any reason for not buying it yourself.

Aaquil.

Well, the one I bought that was also from a skoda dealer was a grand cheaper, in dark blue and with less than half the mileage so it was a bit of a no-brainer.

Thanks for that...me and the old lady came to the conclusion that green is not an ideal colour.

Saw marlborough's green octy 4x4 yesterday.... its in great nick, its been there a long time..... but so was our 4x4.... our 4x4 had been there about 3 months before we got it. Don't think there is the market for them locally.

But just read you dont want the green :o

No, I got a hatch. The only time I've really driven down that way was when I took the Green 4x4 for a test drive, I was driving it for about 45 mins so you might have spotted me then. ;)

I think Marlborough had a 4x4 estate for a while, not sure if they sold it.

Right I have seen an Octavia 1.8T 4X4 Estate BLUE 35,500 miles on sale at Horners Bury.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does Blue mean the dark Blue I had before or are there other BLUES?

2. Are Estates as good with handling with the Hatch?

3. Do they look as good?

4. Am I reasonably safe with a SKODA Dealership buy?

5. Anyone had any experience with HORNERS?

6. Do you think I can haggle the price down if I pay by cash?

1. There's also Dynamic Blue like DGW has.

2. I've read on here the estate handles better but I doubt there's anything in it.

3. That's down to personal opinion, I prefer the estate.

4. You will get a fairly comprehensive 12month warranty so pretty safe.

5. Try a search.

6. You'll get a better price by taking their finance as they get commission on it.

1) 2 blues...the dark blue and the Dynamic Blue....VW Jazz Blue.

2) Don't really know.

3) IMHO the estate looks better.

4) Yes but as with anything....

5) Not me but there are several

6) Cash buyers and no part ex always good for a dealer...so yes.

Ask the penalties for early settlement, if none take the finance, get a better price & pay it off a week later

Thanks for all the replies to all....excellent as per usual.

Anyone have any knowledge of Horners in Bury?

Thanks

Thanks for the pics mate I think you are right! Thanks for the link about Horners Bury as well.

If car still has Skoda warranty on it then wherever you buy it you dont have to take it back, your nearest Skud dealer is your best bet for future work.

Just give it a good look over, make sure servicing is up together etc. If you are unsure about checking it out yourself but like the general look of it shell out for an AA or RAC check. Worth the money for peace of mind
