Cheap Columbus Style Navigation unit - ISD-V001N

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried one of the below?

All I can find is the model no ISD-V001N, but reading the reviews it sounds quite reasonable.

Probably not quite as good as some of the dual core units available, but it's £113 if you buy via the mobile app.

I'm quite tempted.

Seems quite good for the price!

I don't think it's Android based. Also they can ship from the UK

Yeah I saw that too, so no import duty either.

Windows CE based so lots of other Navigation apps available

Hmmmm very very tempting. Anyone know if this fits in place of a bolero without a new surround?

The image in the link with the installed one and a Skoda badge would suggest not. The facia in that has the recesses, whereas a Bolero fills in those areas.

I had the Rcd510 in mine which measured 220 x 130 & it has the Columbus suround

You know what, for that kind of money, its worth a punt!

That's what I'm thinking too. The seller says they're getting some more stock in their UK warehouse next week.

I've seen a Russian review on YouTube, and looks fairly responsive too.

It will definitely need the Columbus trim piece though.

The Columbus surround is a bloody fortune @£50 odd but you can get a Chinese one for £20 delivered of the bay

Here's one review.

Would this be easy to install on a PFL octavia? 55 reg. I have a stream mp3 in place at the moment. Would there be issues with battery drain?

Thanks

I've asked about the battery drain as mine is also a 55 reg, and they say it can be sorted.

Oh ok. Do you know how costly that will be to sort out?

I think it's either a setting on the device or changing a cable around in the plug.

They said that if there is a battery drain problem, let them know and they'll send instructions on how to fix it

It will be a new cambus gateway probably gents but you can try

  • Author

I'm not so sure. I've asked them to clarify how to stop it happening.

This is the fix for stopping the battery drain:

1.before install ,do not connect red wire together on our dvd power cable .

2. if find that backlight can not turn on after remove key from car , then pls cut off orange wire on our dvd power cable .

Keen to see how these turn out, sound quality wise and useability wise also.

Is there an Android version so I can use Waze with it?

Has anybody taken a punt on this? Looking for a new satnav after my TomTom was fried by an after-market charger.
