Rear heater vent problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to remove the rear heater vents, the ones at the back of the arm rest for the rear passengers? It's on a FL Yeti SE.

The wheel that should open and close the vents will not move at all and one is stuck half open and the other completely closed.

Any one had this problem before or can offer advice would be helpful :)

Many thanks.

IIRC you remove the gold out tray that is beneath the vents to find some screws that allow the surround to come off making it easier to pull the vent mount out (it's on metal spring clips).

Now, my memory could be failing, so I'd search on here for the thread showing how to retrofit the whole armrest unit as I'm pretty sure you'll find what you need to know in that.

Failing that, an online parts catalogue should show you how it fits in. As I need to get mine out to fix one damaged vent (caused by children), I'll have a look for the info and post what I find.

Might help:

Thanks both, will have a go tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes :)

Tried but no luck, mine has a single ashtray rather than the double shown in the workshop image posted above so appears different.

It's a bit above my technical level I think! :)

The double tray is an option in place of the vents (upper tray) and lower tray.

I'll have a look at mine and get some pictures and details for you at some point soon.

Hi Moggo,

thought I'd add to this post as I had the same problem and this is the first post that popped up in a search.

My heavy footed kids managed to damage a couple of the louvres on the rear heater vent of our Yeti.

I simply popped it out with a couple of plastic bike tyre levers, you could use proper trim removal tools but tyre levers do exactly the same job without marking the plastic.

It's held in by two plastic clips on either side and just pops straight out.

if, like mine the louvres have just been displaced, you can prise the fascia off the body of the vent assembly by working your way around it with a small slot head screwdriver, re-seat the louvre pins in their guide holes, snap the whole thing back together and pop in back from whence it came, the whole process takes about 5 minutes.

Hope this helps, it seems like this is quite a common issue.

Cheers

Dave
