Navi problem RNS510

Featured Replies

I have problem with Navi

It worked correctly before, but now around week ago it shows some place what I have never visited before. I havnt done any changes, so just one day it started to show wrong place.

Map is moving and it really shows that car is moving etc, but the place is totally wrong.

If I look Navi properties its do not track or find any satelites.

What I could do or to look to get Navi work again correctly?

I am driving Skoda Superb 2011 Columbus.

All suggestions are welcome to get this working again.

Does it show you as in Germany by any chance? If you check your "Current position" it should show you how many satelites it's tracking (like 0/11 maybe).

I'd be replacing the gps antenna first, easiest way is with a cheap £5 one off ebay which you could fix to the top of the RNS510/Columbus unit.

Hi,

I'd the exact same problem a month ago. I bought a universal GPS antenna, see link below. Fitting it in 10 mins. you simply remove the Columbus unit, unplug the existing GPS connector (Blue square connector) and put the new one in it's place. What this leaves you with the Radio Aerial still coming from the shark fin aerial unit on the roof, but the GPS is now the universal black square component, under the dash. I used sticky back velcro pads to stick it to the top of the heating vent.

if works PERFECTLY and cheap as chips to fix. I did think about opening up the shark fin to repair the connection, but that would be a massive amount of effort compared to the fix above. I suspect the shark fin has been damaged from drive through car washes, even despite screwing off the radio aerial. It's a design flaw with these aerials by all accounts.

Order one of these below, and that should get you sorted.

Or as its under 6 years old go to the dealer / Skoda UK and mention your sale of goods act rights. Get them to replace it.

Sale of goods act? If you're gonna take your rights and go barging into Skoda demanding they uphold your rights, it would be as well to quote current rather than obsolete legislation...
