rear washer stoppped working today ...

Featured Replies

As per title..... motor still works, still washes front......

I understand these can leak, and pipes can pop off...... any pointers as to the most common place to look etc ?

Thanks!

Behind the cd changer, or if hatch on the motor itself.

Going out in a bit to get the plastic off and have a look :)

I envy your eunos roadster by the way, used to have one, loved it.

right... the plot thickens....

firstly , thanks to simspj, :) ,  I took the plastic off the tailgate (and now cant get it back on on my own ! grrrr) and sure enough, the pipe had popped off the motor.... no evidence of liquid though hhhmmmmm ....

popped it back on, still no water to the rear wiper....

I mean, what are the chances, that it has popped off, and yet ISN'T allowing water that far anyway ?!

*sigh.....

can't fin a leak ANYWHERE, nothing comming out under the car, nothing in the tailgate, etc etc .. cant find any dampness inside anywhere ...

I can't recall if it's possible or not, but you could try swapping the pumps around on the tank to see if it's a pump issue. Or grab a multi-meter and test using that.

If you're motor's good, it could be a blockage in the pipe. Take off the pipe at the rear wiper and (ideally with an assistant) activate the pump - if you get jets of washer fluid coming out you know that your pipe is good, so the problem is in the rear wiper assembly somewhere. If nothing comes out of the pipe, it's likely you have a blockage.

Have you checked behind the CD multi changer left hand side of the boot behind the carpet there is a join there that is prone to popping off. Also worth checking if there is a fuse for the rear washer? Also blow out the jet in the rear motor to make sure it's not blocked.

If you checked behind the cd changer and there is no water, follow the pipe as there is another connector that pops off.

As for the plastic on the boot, start by winder first at and angle and lower the boot and pull the plastic trim towards you and against the boot (like you're pulling a rope toward your chest) and then hit the bottom of the trim to secure on the bottom of the lid.

Sounds weird when saying it like it but it works and found it to be the easiest way to put it back on.

had another look at this.... there is no water coming out of the pipe by the motor.... had a look behing the carpet around the cd changer, couldn't even see the pipe, wiring loom yeah , thats where the pipe is supposed to go right?! *sigh. couldnt feel any damp anywhere ... motor is deffo working....

think I'm just a bit **** at this sort of thing. fingers were so cold I couldn't manipulate anything!

at least I got the plastic trim back on with the help of swmbo.

maybe I will have to wait for warmer weather to investigate...

Think there might be another joint near the bulkhead as well as where it leaves the pump at the bottom of the washer bottle

Could nozzle be blocked? Tried activating it whilst pipe off the motor?
