Featured Replies

hi there hoping someone can help me as im 20 minutes away from setting fire to my car.......

I have a 2001 fabia SDI, i bought it cheap off a guy with a few problems, i have fixed them all apart from 1....  As i am taking off in 1 st gear there is a horrible vibration through the whole car hich makes every piece of glass shake, it happens in 1st then into second then dissapears in 3rd, If i let the throttle off abit it dissapears. but increased revs slightly it returns.. Its not something I can live with and i really need some advice...

I have changed the gearbox oil, new tires, changed the nearside driveshaft (hoping ive changed it correctly)

please help me as I about at my witts end and that gallon of petrol is iminent...

Might get to put the matches away sooner if you ask in the mk1 furby section... ;)

alsp ive been doing alot of research and people have been talking about the dual mass flywheel, whats the chances of it being this, im hoping this is a worst case scenario. If it was the flywheel sure it would vibrate at low revs in high gear surely, its just a mystery as it only happens in 1st and 2nd? gearbox bearings maybe?

Mass flywheel?

Mass flywheel?

"Basically it's a flywheel in two concentric parts or two facing flywheels stuck together with flexible compound to damp down transmitted vibration from diesel engines, improve gearchange quality and protect transmissions from torque reaction at around 2,000rpm, particularly the change from first to second."

oh i do apologise, I read up the specs for my car and read that it had a DMF, got a clicking coming from the nearside driveshaft so whats the odds that will be my problem? i must have put the new one corrctly?

Might be the CV joint?
