My Skoda dealer rang today to see how I was getting on with the car and reminded me of the fixed price service plan I'd been offered.

 

3 services for £501 inc. vat. About £16 per month if I choose to do it that way by direct debit.

 

Is this good value?

How many miles a year are you covering, and do you want it serviced as 'Fixed Servicing' at 9,400 (10,000) miles / 372 days.

Or on Variable Servicing.?

Are you keeping the car 3 years or longer and do you own it?

 

Decide if you want that main Dealer Servicing, 

because the 3 Oil & Filter Services and 2 being Minor Services and 1 a Major Service with Pollen Filter changed might cost more than £501,

but equally might be available with offers for less.

 

Your circumstances and use are would needs considered.

If it is easy for you and you have a good dealership then maybe go with it, but they get easy money for old rope IMO.

 

PS

Are they changing the Brake Fluid at the 3rd Service and are they including a MOT with the 3 Services?

The car is on a PCP for 41 months but I guess i'll go for another new car before the first MOT.

 

I'm on 10,000 miles per year agreement.

 

I'll have to check up on what I get for that.

I've now checked with the main dealer what is exactly involved with the price I've been offered.

 

2 x minor services (10,000 mile fixed oil change service) normally £149 each

 

1 x Major service normally £279

 

So I would save £26 but was told that prices could well rise before 3 years is up so I may save more.

Just spoken to another Skoda dealer who says wait and pay for the first service at £85 then the next major at £139.

 

If I hand the car in for another (I'm on PCP) before the last service/MOT is due I won't need another service.

 

Seems a better deal? Didn't seem to be any catches.
